The Church excommunicated the mother of a 9-year-old girl after the girl had an abortion — for medical reasons. Doctors agreed that the young girl wouldn’t survive the pregnancy due to her small stature.
However, the Church didn’t excommunicate the girl’s stepfather.
I should note here that the girl’s stepfather allegedly raped her. And that’s how she likely became pregnant.
With a religion like this, I think the girl and her mother will be way better off without it.
