Whoever it is we generally task with activating the mighty progressive movement, I would suggest now is a good time to get moving. Harry Reid basically confirmed the reconciliation strategy today. Josh Marshall:
On a local TV interview show on Friday Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) basically said it’s the plan, that they will use ‘reconciliation’, and that they’ll finish within the next 60 days.
And with the public option gaining momentum in the Senate (again), where is the mighty progressive movement? Where’s the mobilization to help this along and make it happen? I’m dead serious here. Or is the strategy to lay low, so as not to call too much attention to it? I don’t know. I haven’t been getting my Soros check and strategy memorandums these days. But that could be the idea. Keep it hush-hush and hope that the momentum builds on its own.
Nevertheless, there’s one thing we can count on: if there’s no public option in the reconciliation “fixes” bill, there’s going to be a lot of screeching — after it’s too late. Like always.
