This morning, I spent a couple hours enduring the hackish doofery of Donny Deutsch on Morning Joe.
First, he said that an independent presidential ticket of Bloomberg/Scarborough actually has a chance of winning. He obviously knows nothing about American politics because the electoral college will never elect a third-party ticket because all of the state-by-state electors are either Republican or Democratic and are committed to voting for the candidate of their party should that candidate win a plurality of the popular vote in their state. So read a damn eighth grade social studies book, Deutsch.
Second, Deutsch said that extending the Bush tax rates would be “good for the economy.” Uh, no. Extending the tax rates will balloon the deficit and do nothing to stimulate economic growth. It’s basic math and high school level economics.
But too many people agree with Donny on this one. And most of those people are on cable news shows. The rest of us don’t want anything to do with extending the tax rates — not just for the rich but for everyone:
Only a third of all Americans think Bush-era tax cuts should be extended for families regardless of how much money they make, according to a new national poll.
So can we cut the crap with the lies about tax cuts for rich people? Then again, almost everyone on cable news, especially millionaire Donny Deutsch, would benefit from an extension of the tax rates, and hence the lies.
