Cable Punditry Wrong Again

The conventional wisdom among the DC media for the last year or so has been that President Obama owns the economy. The Republicans, naturally, continue to blame the economy on President Obama — they don’t seem to remember anything that happened prior to January 2009.

Remember in 2008 when the instant polls following the presidential debates contradicted the reactions of the cable news pundits? The same thing happened with the new CBS News / New York Times poll. Who do the American people blame for the slow economy?

George W. Bush: 26 percent
Wall Street and financial institutions: 25 percent
Congress: 11 percent
President Obama: 8 percent

Yes, despite what we hear on cable news and talk radio, the American people have decent memories. And thank goodness for it.

CORRECTION: I corrected the numbers and the link. They’re almost exactly the same.

Is there anything they haven’t been wrong about concerning public opinion?

    They live in a bubble.

    • incredulous72

I don’t think they live in a bubble; I think they’re trying to direct the narrative.

Exactly. Want people to believe a lie? Repeat it over and over and over again… and it becomes “truth”. Especially if you’re not really paying attention.

      • JMAshby

The two are not mutually exclusive.

I’m confused. The link takes you to a 2009 survey of when Obama had been in office for 6 months. What am I missing?

    • Corebela

I was about to say how I underestimated the American peoples intelligence and whatnot… But now seeing ElayneB’s comment here I wonder why this would be posted when it is a 2 year old article that has no meaning now…

I corrected the link/numbers. The new numbers from Wednesday’s poll are almost exactly the same.

    Bob,

I can’t believe you haven’t posted about professional asshat Mark Halperin getting canned from MSNBC for calling President Obama a dick on Morning Joe!

    • Dan_in_DE

.. perhaps he’s taking the high road – after all, Bob has been one of the most ardent callers-out of the royal douchebag that is Halperin. No reason to revel in it too joyously ;)

  • GrafZeppelin127

Umm…. While the conclusion may be right, that article is almost two years old.

    • http://www.twitter.com/bobcesca_go Bob Cesca

Corrected. The new poll was released last night so Google was slow on the uptake with new links. Numbers are almost exactly the same.

I’m confused. What’s a punditry? Do they grow in the forest? Oh, I get it now. They can’t see the forest for the punditry.
