GOP Candidate: China Will Invade If We Raise The Debt Ceiling

Remember the time when the Chinese Empire invaded following the last increase of the national debt ceiling? Me neither.

A campaign advertisement for a Republican congressional candidate from Nevada that depicts the Chinese army marching on the U.S. Capitol has upset an Asian-American group.

In the ad, a fake Chinese news anchor explains that the Chinese empire was able to rise again thanks to President Barack Obama raising the federal debt limit.

The ad is for Mark Amodei, a Republican candidate for the upcoming special election in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District. At the end of the ad, he says that it is not too late to stop “this nightmare.”

Curiously, the Bush Administration presided over seven separate increases of the national debt ceiling and the Chinese never invaded. Were they just waiting for a Democrat to take office?

Is this why Eric Cantor walked out of the budget negotiations today?

Cantor walked out because Biden and Dems were insisting on tax increases in exchange for cuts, and Cantor wasn’t having any cause you know, it isn’t a Democracy after all, and Democrats aren’t supposed to get anything rational out of the damn deal.

I don’t know how much longer I can stand to live in this country.

      Right.

Cantor’s definition of compromise is him getting everything he wants and the other side getting nothing.

It’s the same definition of compromise Bush used for eight years.

And to think I hated Cantor even before this…

    Republican Mark Kirk:

“I Told China Not To Believe U.S. Budget Numbers”

He’s now a U.S. Senator of the free world.

The Republican party are fucking traitors, got that?! And THEY are NOT to be trusted at home or abroad.

And I remember when they had control of the government during Bush’s term, and how they treated democracy and the minority party.

    From Maddowblog:

Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wisconsin) ended a 2005 meeting of the House Judiciary Committee on the PATRIOT Act and human rights abuses Matt Taibbi wrote about it the next year:

Sensenbrenner kept trying to gavel the hearing to a close, but Democrats again pointed to the rules, which said they had a certain amount of time to examine their witnesses. When they refused to stop the proceedings, the chairman did something unprecedented: He simply picked up his gavel and walked out.

“He was like a kid at the playground,” the staffer says. And just in case anyone missed the point, Sensenbrenner shut off the lights and cut the microphones on his way out of the room.

They have no use for America, unless it’s to hand out taxpayer cash to millionaires and billionaires.

Democracy and rule of law are impediments to their fascism.

Although I would agree with the Congressman that our debt is certainly a national security issue, the ad is clearly aimed at the lowest common denominator of the right.

This is exactly the type of politics the country could use a lot less of.

“Eeeeeek! Beware the Yellow Hordes!” Isn’t that always the message from the GOP, just change Yellow to the hated color of the day and that pretty much sums them up. You’d think Americans would be on to it by now. Sigh……

The really sad irony is that the GOP also fools us into thinking that their party is the one best suited to protecting us from said “colored” hordes, yet their policies have weakened us and made us economic prey to any of the up and coming nations such as China and India. This kind of nonsense is only the tip of the iceberg destined to sink our Democracy.
