Stupid Palin Thing of the Day

This:

“This Statue of Liberty was gifted to us by foreign leaders, really as a warning to us, it was a warning to us to stay unique and to stay exceptional from other countries. Certainly not to go down the path of other countries that adopted socialist policies,” Palin said to cheers from the crowd.

And this:

“Lady Liberty is the symbol of unity and friendship we have with other freedom-loving nations. It’s also a “warning” of sorts, as France encouraged us to keep democracy alive as the recipient of this gift… basically telling us not to blow it. Thank you for this reminder, France!”

I… I don’t… whaahhh? I don’t know where to begin on this one. “Socialist policies?” — and while she tours a government-funded area? “Basically telling us not to blow it????” Yes, maybe we should add that to The New Colossus:

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
And basically don’t blow it.

Sarah Palin’s new house has a walkability score of 8 (top is 100, bottom is 1).

There are tons of really expensive homes like the one she bought in Snotsdale. The town is full of middle aged women with more plastic surgery wearing clothes two decades too young for them than any other city I’ve ever been in. Although I have been to Los Angeles I was in a hotel for a conference the entire two days so I’m sure I would have seen something similar there. The difference is the cost of living. She can live like a Rock Star here much cheaper and be surrounded by her adoring idiot fans. Sigh….I hate Arizona.

      • dagot

IrishGrrl, there’s an Irish/Italian guy waiting for you in the heartland … unless of course you’re really a boy!

        • http://drangedinaz.wordpress.com/ IrishGrrrl

LOL, no my parts are lady parts. I’m stuck in AZ until my daughter goes off to college….so anyone waiting for me will have to wait about another 10 years.

  • http://twitter.com/comdown Cheryl

Unbelievable. Does she think such ignorance is cute? Could she really be THAT stupid, or perhaps just thinks the rest of us are?

That anyone would, even for one second, think this woman is qualified for ANYTHING is appalling. I wouldn’t hire her to wash cars.

    • holyreality

Well, maybe in a bikini to raise money.

      • muselet

Anyone have a spare bottle of brain bleach lying around? I only have a gallon and I don’t think it’ll be enough.

        • holyreality

          Eh sorry,

But you COULD sell brain bleach at the possible charity carwash:P

  • roxsteady

Exactly! This mangled, rambling, batch of batshit bullshit is infuriating. The idiots who are asking for her autograph are equally stupid. It’s embarrassing that many people in this country are as stupid as she is. She is a walking, talking, cautionary tale of what happens when you don’t study.

  • muselet

I can’t be arsed to look (Sarah Palin isn’t worth the time or effort), but hasn’t she used that “warning us not to be socialists” line before with regard to the Statue of Liberty? It sounds awfully familiar—as well as just plain awful.

She is an eighth grader who never studies, then bullshits her essay exams.

    Bingo.

haha that last line is $$$

Crazy’s on the loose again and this time she’s got a bus! Look out! Show me someone who genuinely respects and likes her and I’ll show you someone with a borderline IQ or serious issues or both.

  • likala

Did you hear her say this, because I wonder how she pronounced statue.

    Here’s what she tweeted:

    Statute of Liberty

    LMAO

    • http://phydeauxpseaks.blogspot.com Bob Rutledge

That’s the Republican in her coming out.

Their greatest dream is for the Statute of Liberty to expire, then nothing will stand in their way of amassing more wealth.

  • Lexamich

That is literally the stupidest shit I’ve heard a Republicon say recently.

And she got cheered for it?

By whom, orcs from Middle Earth?

This misinformation campaign the Cons are putting on is seriously Naziesque.

I see Palin as a vessel for this willful ignorance, but she’s no ditz. She is, of course, playing a role. She spouts dimwitted con-servaidiot platitudes like a Barney The Purple Dinosaur doll in order to relate to people too lazy to be about something more than their political ideology. With that said, it’s apparent she likes the sound of her own voice projecting across a crowd or before a media dork’s mic shoved in her face. It is also obvious that the crowds she attrats like thinking that the world revolves around what they only think, not what is proven by, I don’t know, reality itself. Why else would they show up to a rally with a “restoring honor” theme that struggled to find examples of the dishonored besides the rubes that showed up to the damned thing.

The more I observe this woman, the more I see a sad case of a star TRYING to burn bright before the cold, lonely emptiness of con-servaknave/corporate media space. She so wants to be above her station (glorified mouthy, half-witted housewife), yet her station is all she has going for her, at this point. If she moved beyond any of that, people would recall all the silly shit she’s doing now. I guess that’s why she escaped to Arizona, where they actually reward washed-up Republicon politicians.

Her uselessness may even be dawning on her at this point, as she watches the doofus Bachman attempt to steal all her fans. Her friends in the corporate media continue to prop her up as if she’s a provocateur. There’s nothing interesting about her displays of ignorance. NOTHING!

It’s a pathetic spectacle to watch. Absolute and utterly pathetic.

    Ugh!

I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people in the nation don’t have statutes of liberty and I believe that our, uh, education like such as French and uh the socialism everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, our liberty over here in the U.S. should help the U.S. uh, or uh should help the France and should help the socialism and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future… for our children.

Amen…what a joke she is, but she’s charming and many will be taken in by her charm, only to be disappointed by her gullibility and lack of substance.

  • http://twitter.com/bphoon Brian C

She can barely string words together much less make sense. She talks herself into corners all the time, it’s as if words just pop into her head and automatically launch from her pie hole. When at a loss, she just makes words up (what the fuck is a”squirmish”, anyway?)

She’s probably not stupid, although you’d be hard pressed to find evidence of that. For sure she’s intellectually lazy and becomes a more obvious fraud with each staged photo op. All fluff and no substance and a decided minority actually like that. Beats me why.

Lawrence did a piece tonight on why nobody’s investigating whether her “bus tour” actually amounts to a family vacation being financed by campaign cash…

    • http://drangedinaz.wordpress.com/ IrishGrrrl

Well, my 8 year old could out speak her fer crying out loud! She is truly an uneducated idiot. And it’s not snobbery to call her on it. It should be our expectation that our leaders understand some really basic shit like the difference between the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. And that they understand historical things like how we acquired the “Statute of Liberty” and what it stands for.

Ultimately, she’s a narcissist that thinks it doesn’t matter how much she does or does not know, so long as people continue to fawn over her, she is content.

Funny thing. In France Bartholdi didn’t have any problem raising funds for construction, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statue_of_Liberty but then when push came to shove and it was time to raise money here in the US to build the pedestal, it was like pulling teeth to come up with the money. The irony seems to me that at the time (1880-1884) the occupants of the White House were skin flint republicans. Even Grover Cleveland, democratic governor of New York vetoed a funding bill.

  • rosielaf

the Statue of Liberty was given to the U.S. by French citizens to commemorate the 100th anniversary of our Independence. It was first erected in Paris and then dismantled and shipped in pieces to NYC. School children in the U.S. contributed to funding the reassembly. It wasn’t given by leaders of countries and it had nothing to do with warning us about socialism’s ills. I think that must be a twisted way to take a swipe at social programs presently under attack, i.e., medicare.

Ugh, the “Statute of Liberty” thing I could chalk up to Auto-correct striking again, but…the STUPIDITY!!! Ugh!!! Not to mention that France was in constant struggle between the republicans (small r) and the conservative Royalists, even in 1886. The Royalists weren’t firmly defeated until Henri Petain’s rotting corpse was buried after WWII.

  • rosielaf

wikipedia is a wonderful thing as is reading some basic American history. Sarah assigned her daughter to do some reading up on history, etc., on the internet. Must not be going well.

  • http://twitter.com/JimmyAbra Jimmy Abraham

And what better reminder for us to not be socialist but a public statute (sic) that we all shared as a National Monument!

  • dagot

I thought Republicunts HATED the French. I remember a few years ago when they wouldn’t go lock-step into Iraq with Chimpy McFlightsuit and Republicunts wouldn’t even eat French fries.
