The Towering Tax Cuts

Artist – Pat Bagley

In other news, Governor Bev Perdue (D) of North Carolina vetoed a bill passed by the Republican-controlled state legislature which would have required photo-IDs to vote, and Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain says he would fix our broken regulation system by putting Big Oil CEO’s in charge of regulation. Smart.

All along. And a few of us were sad when we got dumped on FB, but figured you had your reasons. Anyway, you’re doing a bangup job, keep it up!

I deactivated my entire Facebook profile, so I can assure you it wasn’t personal.

Okay. So, my girlfriend just got through reading Rob Lowe’s book, Stories I Only Tell My Friends, and she was intrigued by an excerpt and began her verbal Cliff notes with the name, Glenn Souham, who in the mid-eighties on a junket to Paris, drove Rob Lowe around and even introduced him to Princess Stephanie of Monaco.

She explained to me that Souham was gunned down in Paris soon after he and Rob Lowe parted ways, and she wanted to know more about this mysterious guy. I Googled, and it was like taking a trip down the rabbit hole of the Reagan 80′s.

    I came across this:

Souham was the son of New York PR counselor Gerard Souham, a frequent White House visitor whose firm was affiliated with Gray & Company. Glenn had talked openly to friends of working with a certain “lieutenant colonel” at the National Security Council and of suddenly making more money than ever before. Although the killing received almost no attention in the major news media, O’Dwyer’s PR Services came to the conclusion that “young Souham, because of his international social and business connections, was enticed into Iran-Contra arms dealing” and that his indiscriminate bragging to friends led to his assassination.’

Do yourself a favor and read that whole excerpt if for no other reason to better understand, or to be reminded, how the Reagan administration operated.

Rob Lowe is like the Forest Gump of Hollywood. By degrees of separation, Rob Lowe can be considered the Kevin Bacon of the Reagan 80′s plot to overthrow democracy and the U.S. institutions accountable for transparency and rule of law, among other significant historical events– Like being one of the first people to see a raw cut of Goodfellas, or being one of the first people to see a model of “The Death Star.” (edit) He was also the last person to appear on the cover of George Magazine. Weird.

Needless to say, this trip down Google-Lane produced names like, Adnan Khashoggi and ‘Kermit’ Roosevelt, and John Poindexter, Lt. Col. Oliver North, and Manuel Noriega, William Casey, Edwin Meese, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it weren’t for the GOP’s consistent lies and revisionist history, and the corporate media’s complicity, Reaganites would never be allowed near public office again. We would view them with national skepticism and distrust.

Republicans, as a collective, really don’t know how much they hate America and how much they’ve done to undermine freedom and democracy.

It’s just odd that it took Rob Lowe’s diary to remind me.

      Yeah it looks good!

Hey, what part of AZ are you in? You avoiding the fires? Im in So Cal… about two hours from your neck of the woods.

        • http://drangedinaz.wordpress.com/ IrishGrrrl

I’m in northwest Phoenix Valley. If the fires ever reach here, it will be the friggin apocalypse. But the smoke and particulates conveniently come our way and stay in the valley along with all of our lovely pollution to form a asthmatic’s worst nightmare. :)

I sympathize. For several years it seemed like all of So Cal was hell bent to burn down. We have had the last couple of years largely off. Seems like the wild fires moved east. Bad for you, but I’ve enjoyed not choking on smoke all the damn time. Lets hope it stays south of you.
