Lunatic Quote of the Day

Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX) has purportedly uncovered the president’s true motives for not immediately giving up the items listed on the Republicans’ ransom note.

GOHMERT: And I can’t help but be a little bit cynical here. Because we find out the president has a big birthday bash scheduled for August the 3rd, celebrities flying in from all over. And lo and behold, August 2nd is the deadline for getting something done so he can have this massive, the biggest fundraising dinner in history for a birthday celebration. [...] Isn’t that amazing? The timing of this?

Oh snap! He caught the president red handed! This is all just a setup for the president’s big Hollywood-elite, liberal birthday party!

On a serious note — believing the president would -or even could- engineer this kind of fiasco just for a birthday celebration, rather than to protect those who can’t protect themselves from the Republican Spending-Cut Machete™ strikes me as the ravings of a sociopath.

Wow, I think that has to be the most lunatic quote of the month. It’s one thing to dislike the President, but that statement reeks of total disrespect for the President.

  • CanadaGoose

He’s not up to date on his fantasies. Limbaugh says Aug 2 was chosen because Ramadan starts August 1.

Will this supposedly Muslim president have to wait until after sundown to eat his birthday cake?

I’m wondering if they set up this grand birthday party at the same time the birth announcement was placed in the Hawaii newspapers waaaaay back in 1961. I’ve gotta admit, that’s pretty genius of those folks to make Obama’s birthday fall on August 4th. (can you feel the snark radiating from my keyboard?)

    Accepted fact at Free Republic.

I don’t know whether to blame MTV or the hippies; MSG or LSD; fluoride in the water, jet contrails, Happy Meals, rap music, pornography or Snap, Crackle and Pop, but the IQ of the American voter – or at least a frighteningly large number of them – hovers somewhere south of their height in inches. They are paranoid, uninformed, unread, poorly educated, unthoughtful, incurious, spoiled, reflexive, uncultured, mild-t0-medium racists (who will TELL you they’re colour blind) if not flagrantly hateful.

And the Republicans – people like Gohmert, Sessions, King, Bachmann, Palin – exploit that simmering pot of stone ignorance. It probably started out as a vicious joke at some point in the distant past: Rumsfeld and Cheney were arguing in the Nixon white house when Henry Kissinger made some caustic remark about how fucking stupid people really are. So, on a bet, they planted some bit of egregious bullshit – it caught on, became an issue and some fat, yammering tool from Georgia wound up in congress on the back of swearing to high holy jesus how he just wasn’t gonna stand for shit like that anymore. And they’ve been doing it ever since…and it keeps working. You can’t fix stupid…and they can’t find anything SO dumb that 10% of voters won’t decide how to cast their ballot based on it.

How many goddamn times are these motherfuckers going to be permitted to cock up every goddamn thing they touch, demonstrate to anyone with eyes that they don’t give a decaying rat’s ass about anything other than power and the pockets of the filthy rich, and tell lie after obvious lie after stupid lie – lies so fucking backward and twisted they go well beyond simple prevarication and become an insult. Really? You expect me to believe THAT? REALLY?

It’s not just that Gohmert is an idiot and demonstrates that he shouldn’t be permitted to handle anything more dangerous than a plastic spork every time he opens his imbecilic mouth – it’s that people VOTED for this moron AND are out there right now expressing and sharing their shock! “Oh my god, of COURSE! It’s timed for his BIRTHDAY!” and adding that to the almost infinite list of literally unbelievable bullshit that they really believe.

When members of congress can say shit like this and get away with it; say shit like this and not be shunned by every single citizen that isn’t failing to take their anti-psychotic meds, there’s something wrong – something bigger and deeper than just GOP intransigence and idiocy. And when Obama wins a second term, I fear it will break loose of whatever flimsy restraints have been holding it down.

Actually, perhaps when it does “break loose of whatever flimsy restraints have been holding it down” then liberals can finally, definitively point to these idiots and say “That’s it…those people right there….THEY are the problem.” And then maybe we can do something about it.

Except that the ones breaking loose, by and large, are the ones with the guns. That does give one pause, don’t you think?

        • http://drangedinaz.wordpress.com/ IrishGrrrl

Actually I was thinking of having my gun ready for when they “break loose”. Conservatards aren’t the only ones that own guns and know how to use them…..hehe.

Funny you should mention that; I’ve been thinking for a while now I’d like to get a gun and learn to shoot, just for fun. Have fired a pistol once in my life and as an objective experience quite enjoyed it.

If we really are going over the cliff, “fun” becomes a subsidiary factor.

          • http://drangedinaz.wordpress.com/ IrishGrrrl

If we’re really REALLY going over cliff knowing how to shoot is a necessary skill to have.

  • GrafZeppelin127

Remember Colin Ferguson, who randomly shot a whole bunch of people on the Long Island Railroad in 1993? He represented himself at his trial. In his opening argument , he asserted that the only reason there had been a 93-count indictment against him was that it matched the year 1993. Had it been 1925, he said, it would have been 25 counts.

Ferguson was described by his own attorneys as a, quote, “delusional psychotic.”

  • delosgatos

You know what else happened on August 2?

Adolph Hitler became Fuehrer of Germany, the Gulf of Tonkin incident, and Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait.

    Truly, this conspiracy runs deep…

  • D_C_Wilson

Louie needs to dig deeper. I have it on good authority that Obama’s birthday bash is itself a cover to use celebrities to airlift millions of pregnant Muslim women into the country, all of whom are set to give birth on Aug 3rd, thereby creating an entire army of future terror babies!

  • incredulous72

Uh, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this the second or third postponement for raising the debt ceiling and that postponement is because of the republicans?

And as far as this gober inferring that the President engineered this impending disaster to raise money for his re-election, that’s called PROJECTION.

    He really IS a gober.

We aren’t talking about a lucid, rational human being here. But I really wonder what it says about his district that they elected this dimwit. Doesn’t anybody there listen to him and think WTF? Oh yeah, it’s Texas and probably not. Not that there’s not intelligent people in Texas, I just think they are mostly in Austin and I’m betting that’s not his district.
