Oil In The Yellowstone River

If you’re visiting Yellowstone during the Holiday, watch out for oil floating down the river.

(Reuters) – A pipeline operated by Exxon Mobil Corp leaked as many as 1,000 barrels of crude oil into the Yellowstone River in Montana and has been shut down, the company said.

Exxon officials said on Sunday there were traces of oil up to 10 miles downriver from the site of what they called a “very unusual” event.

The oil company said it had slowed processing rates at its Billings refinery following the leak but did not expect supply disruptions in the area.

Exxon found the leak from the EMPCo pipeline early on Saturday morning. The pipeline runs only in Montana, from Silver Tip to Billings.

This digusts me to no end…. Exxon/Mobil is once again negligent in their operations, surprize , surprize…

however if you are going to Yellowstone NP, you won’t be seeing any of this effluent inside the park (thank god) as the spill took place on the Yellowstone River in Laurel, MT 10 miles up river from Billings, MT and 45 miles NE of YNP. the spill is moving w/ the current away from YNP. This does not lessen the seriousness of this incident. But Please don’t let this incident negatively
affect your decision on Visiting one of our national treasures.

And republicans, of course, will cite this as a the result of overregulation and use it as an argument for dismantling the EPA.

Yep. If the drilling weren’t over-regulated, then they could spend more money on maintenance and infrastru– BWAAA!!! I’m sorry, I can’t even finish typing that without bursting into (unregulated) gales of laughter.

    Oh, and I forgot:

Tomorrow morning on “Fox and Friends”, Douchy and Kincaid will call this “Obama’s Katrina”, just like they have for every other natural and man-made disaster that’s occurred since he took office.
