Rooted Policy

In other news, the governor of Montana, Brian Schweitzer (D) is threatening to sue Exxon Mobil over their bungled handling and cleanup of the 42,000 gallons of oil spilled into the Yellowstone River, and former British prime minister Gordon Brown may have also been a victim of the Murdoch tabloid phone-hacking scandal.

Welcome ladies. I just wish it were longer, cold chills galore and hate when it ends :)

Just a quote from the Huffington Post on one part of the talks both sides had regarding the debt ceiling. It is said Dems refused to vote without revenue increase and this exchange was had:

‘ “Entitlement cuts aren’t easy for us to vote for either,” Boehner told Obama, according to the aide. “Our guys aren’t cheerleading about cutting entitlements.”

Obama responded, “Your guys already voted for them” — referring to House Republicans passing a budget package that revamps Medicare.

“Excuse us for trying to lead,” responded Boehner, at which point the president moved onto a different topic, the aide said.’

Children. And they’re the only people that don’t recognize it.

LOL yeah “excuse us for trying to lead” us all off a cliff. Jackass Boehner

    • incredulous72

See! That’s Boehner’s problem! He has a hard enough time doing his own job, don’t try and do the President’s too.

      He’s such a rube.

      • mrbrink

John Boehner can’t even have an honest discussion behind closed doors.

And “Excuse us for trying to lead“…?

        Punk ass.

So, I guess he really does believe in his own bullshit.

I was half hoping he’s just been playing for the cameras all these years.

I’m embarrassed for him, mortified that people sent a lying hack like him in to negotiate away the free world.

    • likala

Thanks for that. According to the far left he never puts them in their place.

“Excuse us for trying to lead”

Completely childish comeback to a serious statement from President Obama.

Too bad he couldn’t hand him a pacifier.

      • jjasonham

This is so true. Obama speaks softly and carries a big stick. He has gravitas and when he says something he carries weight. He is the exact opposite of weak. So many on the left want him to be talking all the time and getting into spats like this in order for them to feel like he’s getting something done. That is such a warped view of what leadership REALLY is. That’s Bush’s “leadership” style.

    • MarshallLucky

Straight from the ‘bitchy 17-year-old’ school of comebacks. Which doesn’t come as much of a surprise, given the leathery old fuck’s tanning addiction and penchant for blubbering temper tantrums.

The great part about that quote is, that vote was *not* them trying to lead, it was them taking a purely symbolic vote that they knew would accomplish nothing.

Since I’m in sharing mode tonight, here’s another little goodie:

    Lawrence O’Donnell/twitter:

    by steveweinstein
@Lawrence: “What you are now witnessing is the most masterful rope-a-dope ever performed by a president against an opposition party.”

    • MarshallLucky

With a whole hell of a lot more than Obama’s political future on the line, I really hope O’Donnell is right.

      • jjasonham

I have severed all ties with cable news, and I’ve been that way for at least 4 years. I don’t watch much tv anyway, but I try to watch online clips of Maddow and Olbermann. Point is, if you remove yourself from that perspective you can tell that Lawrence is right. For real.

  • jjasonham

That segment Lawrence O’Donnell did describing the President’s rope-a-dope strategy is a must watch!

    • jjasonham

This is truly brilliant. When you look at this, you can see that Obama has put himself in the position to get what he wanted all along….a clean bill to raise the debt ceiling with no attached legislation!

  • jjasonham

Adding: Obama appears to take on Republican stances, just so they can run away from them. The man is playing chess, and the GOP is playing with their toes.
