'A Blast at Republicans'

The National Journal is hopefully establishing some common wisdom here that will permeate the DC media. Their assessment of the S&P downgrade?

It’s hard to read the S&P analysis as anything other than a blast at Republicans.

And more…

It based it on the political game of chicken over the debt ceiling, a game that Republicans initiated and pushed to the limit, and on a growing gloom about the partisan deadlock. Part of S&P’s gloom, moreover, stemmed explicitly from what a new assessment of the GOP’s ability to block any and all tax increases.

The only upside in all of this would be a serious downgrade of the GOP’s political credit rating, so to speak. Here’s to the Republicans getting snowed under for sabotaging the economy and the political process in Washington.

The sad thing – perhaps about democracy in principle – is that there is a large chunk of eligible voters who actually, ignorantly, BELIEVE that shutting down government spending (ALL of it!) is the path to prosperity.

If the gubmint weren’t takin’ all ars moneys I’d be rich-like!

So long as stone ignorance is permitted to chub up agin itself, we’re all fucked.

I am hoping come Monday that the TeaHobbits get 100 percent of the blame for this, and in no way shape or form can Fake Newz, or any other batshit wingnut apologist can spin this in a way that lay the blame on the libruls or the mean ole librul media. Every liberal need to consistently put the message out that S&P report directly blames the Republicans for this mess. :

If S & P is playing politics, it is in very bad form that they have chosen this route. It seems at first glance that they are hitting the republican tea party republic for their intransigence at using revenue streams as part of an austerity package. However this downgrade just gives the republican clown car ammo to shoot at president Obama.
