The End Is Nigh!

At least according to Steve King.

The conservative freak-out over the Department of Health and Human Services requiring insurers to provide women’s healthcare, such as birth control and breast exams, without co-pays or deductibles continues.

Echoing his Fox News counterparts, Representative Steve King (R-Batshit) is utterly convinced that offering free birth control means the end is nigh, and he took to the floor of the House yesterday to play the role of doomsayer.

KING: They’ve called it preventative medicine. Preventative medicine. Well if you applied that preventative medicine universally what you end up with is you’ve prevented a generation. Preventing babies from being born is not medicine. That’s not— that’s not constructive to our culture and our civilization. If we let our birth rate get down below replacement rate we’re a dying civilization.

Gee, I hope no one tells him that in France, high school students can obtain free condoms from the school nurse. He just might have an aneurysm.

Likewise, free birth control has been available in parts of Europe for decades. And as far as I can tell, they aren’t a dying civilization.

Furthermore, freely available birth control greatly reduces the number of abortions. Don’t conservatives hate abortion?

Perhaps they are just afraid that a declining number of abortions will remove yet another talking-point from their pool of nonsense.

Wow, too bad he doesn’t have as much concern about post-womb America.

  • holyreality

Think of all those Wimmenfolk out there fuckin and fuckin with no babies on their fear list!?!

The little invisible guy in the clouds WILL NOT BE HAPPY, what with all that sinning.

Nope, they’ll just outbreed us because their women are chattel.

    Hey Ashby,

It’s not about abortions; it’s about stopping white people from not having kids. King is scared of the growing number of brown people in the world. He is scared of becoming a minority.

  • ShitMcFuckensteinAVC

He’s just worried the Mexicans are going to out pace white people.

    Semi-related:

Anyone else remember when they had to put a limit on the number of free Viagra pills a man could get per month? Pretty sure it applied to all government funded medical care, but I know it applied to military pharmacies because the old farts were breaking the bank.

Isn’t it funny how old guys can fuck with impunity but women of child bearing years….they’d better not be!

      • Brutlyhonest

Indeed. I’d like to see how much taxpayer money is spent every year on woody pills and fertility treatments. Funny (not haha) to me is that almost all the military people I knew getting fertility treatments were of the extreme jeebus loving variety. Seems to me, that they shouldn’t be playing god by using science to get around “his will”.

Added bonus? A lot of multiple births to add to the cost of dependent health care! Yay!

We could only HOPE this a-hole has an aneurysm and soon!

Doesn’t anyone understand that birth control methods keep the little swimmers from fulfilment? Didn’t anyone see and hear Monty Python’s song about the little swimmers? How can we waste male productivity?

    Hey, Di.ck face.

When you have a uterus and can give birth, then and ONLY then do you get any opinion as to what I (or any other woman) can do with her body.

Go fuk yourself. (Am I cheesed off or what)

    Blech.
