The Southern Strategy Rolls On…

Rush Limbaugh continues to be the epicenter of Republican racism. Here Limbaugh explains how the president goes “all honky” when he’s around white people.

I know the “Republican racism” posts are becoming exhausting, but there’s a purpose here and it’s important to underscore the point whenever possible. The Republicans continue to base a considerable chunk of their political strategy on racism and racial fearmongering, specifically stoking white racism against the president and others. The Southern Strategy. Instead of being regarded as a low-brow second tier political party that continues to exist in the 1950s, they’re still taken seriously by the press and historians. Until they’re shamed into jettisoning the racism or leaving the stage to make way for a new party, we have a responsibility to continuously and vigorously call them on this nonsense.

The Republican racism posts don’t get tiring because they are true. Pointing out facts is sometimes difficult to hear. I have to accept that there are a truckload of kooks further left of me. They are my cross to bear. So guess what Ron Christie, all those moderate Republicans out there get to carry their own cross. You don’t get to wash your hands of the Birchers just because you live in Georgetown and get invited on MSNBC all the time.

Unfortunately, this is comedy to a large portion of old white people, who happen to be mostly republican, much in the same way shock humor with gratuitous cursing is funny to adolescent males. It is repugnant and I have no idea why many of these peoples’ development have arrested (fear, most likely)…But they do get their political belief from their comedians on simplistic levels rather than economic and policy experts to explain the complexities of why things are and the pros and cons of options.

I was wondering which Right wing radio blowhard started this meme- it’s been cropping up on a few message boards recently. Guys claiming the President changes his voice to pander or something.

I should have figured it was Limbaugh. Limbaugh freakin’ loves making fun of the speech of black people.
He used to have an intro with a voice mimicking Tyson- he may still, I never bother with his rants anymore.
Tiresome as these racists are, they will never STFU if we don’t call them out on it.

I suspect that by next spring the volume will hit 11.
If the Dems can register folks and turn them out to vote the GOP will suffer a thumpin’ of 1964 proportions.

We’d better get to work what with all the Voter ID laws on the books now and (at least in Wisconsin) closure of DMV offices in predominately Democratic areas.

GOTV is going to have to be a much different effort that it was in ’08.
