So Rick Perry’s hunting lodge has a rock/sign out front with the name “Niggerhead” painted on it. I’m not sure exactly what that name means in the context of a wealthy white family’s hunting lodge, but that’s what it’s called.
Suffice to say, it’s not good news for Perry’s campaign, but I really don’t think it’s fatal even though it should be. Don’t forget that many of the former McCain/Palin supporters weren’t shy about their racism. But rival Herman Cain spoke out against Perry which, in turn, outraged the far-right who quickly rebuked Cain:
At RedState, Erick Erickson concludes: “It also seems to be a slander Herman Cain is picking up and running with as a way to get into second place.” Glenn Reynolds remarks that until now Cain’s “big appeal is that he’s not just another black race-card-playing politician.” Over at the Daily Caller, Matt Lewis calls Cain’s remarks “a cheap shot, and, perhaps a signal that Cain is willing to play the race card against a fellow Republican when it benefits him.”
That’s right, CNN analyst Erick Erickson is defending Perry’s “Niggerhead” sign and attacking Cain’s reaction. Same with Reynolds, and occasional MSNBC analyst and unfrozen caveman lawyer Matt Lewis.
