TPM documented the 12 most racist/crazy things in Buchanan’s new book. Here’s a sample:
From the chapter, “The End Of White America”:
The white population will begin to shrink and, should present birth rates persist, slowly disappear. Hispanics already comprise 42 percent of New Mexico’s population, 37 percent of California’s, 38 percent of Texas’s, and over half the population of Arizona under the age of twenty. ……. Mexico is moving north. Ethnically, linguistically, and culturally, the verdict of 1848 is being overturned. Will this Mexican nation within a nation advance the goals of the Constitution—to “insure domestic tranquility” and “make us a more perfect union”? Or has our passivity in the face of this invasion imperiled our union?
One thing that’s oddly commendable about Buchanan is his honesty. He writes things in this book that few other Republicans/conservatives have the guts to say out loud. I suppose that’s a perk of being a 100-year-old man with fuck-you-money and nothing to lose.
Beyond that, wow. It’s clear that Buchanan is a white supremacist who yearns for the days when whites controlled everything and brown people were second class and segregated. He believes in the 1950s utopia. Civilization depends on white power, and the forthcoming wave of brown means third world slums and white slavery.
