Quote of the Day

This is brilliant.

“Twenty-six years ago, another president said some of these tax loopholes, and I quote: ‘made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing while a bus driver was paying 10 percent of his salary and that is crazy, it’s time we stopped it.’”

“You know the name of that president? Ronald Reagan,” Obama said.

“Was that class warfare? I know people have short memories, but I don’t remember Republicans accusing Ronald Reagan of being a socialist or engaging in class warfare because he thought everybody should do their fair share.”

“Things have just gotten out of whack.”

“If asking a billionaire to pay the same tax rate as a plumber or a teacher or a bus driver makes me a warrior for the middle class, I will wear that charge with honor.”

As he should. And if Fox News is going to shout it from the rooftops anyway, why not beat them at their own game?

This is clearly going to be a major element of the 2012 campaign.

I like that…quoting straight from the GOP Messiah and using the words against the very party that deify him. It’s smart, strategic, and calculating. It may also be completely lost on the GOTP lemmings.

I’m waiting for the right-wingnuts to claim this as a “lefty conspiracy theory” or saying it’s “out of context”…y’know, like they do with 95% of The Constitution.

    And boom.

Teabagger heads explode everywhere. Suddenly, the air is filled with the smell of brains and chamomile.

      Brains? What brains?

Republicans (who mistakenly claim that tax cuts increase revenues) forget that Reagan later raised taxes to help offset the revenue loss from the previous increase. But just like their other God, Republicans only like apply the quotes that serve their purpose.

I applaud the President for coming out swinging like this the past couple of weeks. More please!

Funny how the media is not saying a peep about this comment. Not.One. Peep.

But they have a hard-on for “fat baby jesus” and his non-candidacy for president.

    Touche!

I heard snippets of Reagan speech this morning, and thought to myself, today’s wingnuts would run him out of the party. Damn shame those wingnuts can’t see that 90% of us are in the same boat, and voting Republican is like throwing away a vote.

This should be a major element of Obama’s 2012 campaign:

I couldn’t have said it better myself.
