The Republicans say the stimulus “failed.” They’re lying.

I’m still trying to find out if the stimulus paid for itself, if it was a worthwhile investment. Clearly it created and/or saved millions of jobs. But in terms of tax revenue collected on those jobs, infrastructure improvements as a result, etc, how can we prove to voters that this bill was a net positive? After all we had to borrow $800 billion to pay for it.

its sad but impossible to prove a “what if’ but remember when talking to people our GDP fell to -9 last quarter 2008 NEGATIVE 9. That is double the -4 we had in the 80′s and this was with interest rates at zero. In the 80s there were double digits, which meant an easy fix — lower rates. Obama had few tools left in the box w interest rates already at zero and 10.5 T debt when he took office. He’s done one hell of a good job considering….

Hate to say it, but the unemployment rate is still 9%. we need another stimulus, right now.

Sadly, the chances of one passing this Congress are worse than nil. The GOP is betting everything on keeping unemployment high for the next twelve months.

They certainly aren’t betting on the quality of their candidates.

Charts, Schmartz. When you point this out the argument from the Right is that the CBO is a hopelessly compromised tool of the socialist left. Then they will post links to Michelle Malkin and Politico to prove it.

Facts, history, and research mean nothing in the face of fear driven fanaticism.
