It’s Bound to Have Some Effect!

Wherein John McCain reaches into his Six Demon Bag and pulls out a corporate tax holiday in the name of “yachts, corporate jets, all that kind of thing,” while speaking at the Reuters Washington Summit yesterday.

“If you brought $1.5 trillion back to the United States of America, it’s bound to have some positive effect somewhere,” he said at the Reuters Washington Summit. “I don’t see how it would not. Even if they buy more yachts and … corporate jets and all that, it’s bound to have some effect.“

Oh. It will have an effect.

The effect would be an explosion of the deficit that would send even more investments overseas.

Don’t Republicans really hate the deficit?

Why is there a Rand Paul”Sign the Right to Work Petition” banner ad on your site?

    • JMAshby

We have no control over the ads that are displayed.

I know you don’t have control over them but I would rather see no ads. It irks me that conservatards have so much money that they can afford to blanket even liberal sites with their stupid BS.

(also, Ashby, I love your posts, but… it’s “wherein”. Sorry, teacher of English (as Second Language))

    • Dan_in_DE

Hey, Bob – I’m one of those too! It’s my fallback position ; ) So, I’m actually looking for a teaching job in Oslo right now, for a change of pace and to keep my ESL thing current..

And yeah, I was about to correct Ashby on the wherein thing the other day. You beat me to the punch!

      • http://phydeauxpseaks.blogspot.com Bob Rutledge

It’s my fallback, too (in real life I’m a journeyman carpenter/furniture maker), but as a non-resident residing* in Costa Rica, the only legal work I can do is that which does not take work from Ticos (Costa Ricans), so meet your new Advanced English teacher [native speakers are inherently more qualified -- CR's words, not mine. :) ]!

*Technically, I’m a ‘tourist’, but I’ve lived here for over 2.5 years, leaving for a couple days every 3 months (quick jaunt to Nicaragua) to keep my visa updated. We’re hoping for one of the infrequent amnesties to happen, so I can get my residency. Otherwise, I’d have to win the Lotto to have enough assets to get my card.

I had Lit101 in college. Does that count?

      • http://phydeauxpseaks.blogspot.com Bob Rutledge

I was pretty lit all through college, so….

        • D_C_Wilson

When I was in college, they used to abbreviate “Comparative Literature” as “C Lit” in the student schedules. I took as much “C Lit” as a I could.

          • JMAshby

            Funny people.

          • http://drangedinaz.wordpress.com/ IrishGrrrl

Isn’t that what college is for? ;)

  • D_C_Wilson

He’s not even trying any more.
