The Most Anti-Business Administration Ever!

Well, not really.

According to the Washington Post, Wall Street has experienced higher profits in the last two and a half years than during the entirety of the Bush Administration.

Wall Street firms — independent companies and the securities-trading arms of banks — are doing even better. They earned more in the first 2 1/2 years of the Obama administration than they did during the eight years of the George W. Bush administration, industry data show. [...]

The largest banks, including Bank of America, Citigroup and Wells Fargo, earned $34 billion in profit in the first half of the year, nearly matching what they earned in the same period in 2007 and more than in the same period of any other year.

Securities firms — the trading arms of big banks and hundreds of other independent firms — have fared even better. They’ve generated at least $83 billion in profit during the past 2 1/2 years, compared with $77 billion during the entire Bush administration, according to data from the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.

Now if only that darn Obama would get out of the way of business so they could hire people, we might be getting somewhere!

I can barely say that with a straight face.

Now if only that darn Obama would get out of the way of business so they could hire people, we might be getting somewhere!

I was watching Morning Joe today, and for 2-1/2 years he’s been crying about how tough Obama has been for businesses yet today he changed over to ‘see folks, Obama is in the pockets of Wall Street and big business’ and not a single person around that table called Joe on his hypocrisy. Although, considering it was Halperin, Mika and Willie Geist, I guess I’m shouldn’t be surprised at the crickets.

I agree with the sarcastic sentiment here but could part of that be because the big banks have bought out so many other banks? The slices of pie have all gotten bigger!

    What a terrible socialist.

  • holyreality

Facts do not matter in the GOP driven reality.

    The FAUX NEWS parrots sqwack and chirp;
    Obama! Hates Capitalism,
    Obama, Hates America,
Obama, wants to kill your grandma

It MUST BE TRUE, FAUX is fair and balanced!?!

    More cognitive dissonance.

More corporate profits than under Bush, fewer new regulations than under Bush, the list goes on and on. The Right™ wants so badly to believe that this President is “anti-business” (whatever the hell that’s supposed to mean) that they treat that characterization as a self-evident fact. I had a dispute a few months back over on HuffPo with a commenter who kept citing the opinions of right-wing pundits and think tanks as “proof” that Obama was “the most anti-business president EVERRRRRR.” They actually treat each other’s opinions as proof of … each other’s opinions.

It’s a classic logical fallacy. You assume that the premise you’re trying to establish is necessarily true, therefore the opinion becomes proof of itself. It’s easy to confuse opinion for fact when opinion can be proven by opinion.

It’s the media’s job to tear down this house of cards, not describe it.

Yeah well, they meant to say President Obama is anti-antibusiness.

It’s the media’s job to tear down this house of cards, not describe it.

If we could just get them to at least start describing it rather than subscribing to it, that would be a start.

Nobody much is accusing the media of actually doing their jobs.

I can hardly say that with a straight face

I’m surprised anyone else can, too.

I can barely say that with a straight face.

Keep practicing. When you can do it effortlessly, you’ll be ready for your first appearance on Fox News.
