Of all ideological labels, Americans love “progressive” the most.

Glenn Beck’s campaign the demonize progressivism is, for now, a failure.

This poll seems to show the ignorance that most responders have of these terms, or at least of the context in which the terms were presented to them for the poll.
It seems highly unlikely that many of them viewed the terms in their political context when “conservative” and “progressive” receive statistically similar positive responses.
It certainly doesn’t suggest that “progressivism” is on the march in America. It’s more likely that few people tend to connect the term “progressive” with politics. At least 22% seem to know what it is, unless they’re just glass half empty sad sacks with an unconditional negative view of the universe.

Agree, I think Americans have no idea what it means. But Bob’s point is still valid…they evidently aren’t buying Beck’s lies about it or his negativity.

That said, I suspect many people are as clueless about progressive politics as they are about socialism. And their understanding of capitalism probably doesn’t go beyond “It has something to do with money.”

Some self-titled “progressives” out there have taken up Beck’s torch in an attempt to reverse this trend.
