Erick Erickson's RedState Endorses…

…Rick Perry!

Perry is the most reliable conservative in the race. He has made his share of missteps over 25 years in public life, as have all the candidates, but when you think seriously about which of the major candidates would govern in the most consistently conservative fashion, the answer is obvious. Perry hasn’t zigzagged or flip-flopped his way through his career, and he’s not overtaken by a new enthusiasm every week. Neither flights of fancy nor bipartisan consensus for its own sake are in his nature. His long record in office, and his base of support, place him well to the right of Mitt Romney and – on the great issues of the day – to the right of Newt Gingrich as well. Judging the men just by their records, Perry can be counted on to govern to the right of either.

Not like their endorsements means anything, but I don’t think they care.

One thing is for sure: if it’s Romney or maybe even Gingrich, the far-right tea party types will likely stay home in November.

Really…seriously…I had a miniscule shred of respect for Erickson before today. After reading that drivel about Perry I am now convinced more than ever a trained monkey could run and win the Republican nomination so long as he was ideologically pure….oops been there done that….

Seriously? You actually had a shred of respect for Erickson?

I doubt it. Even if it’s Romney, they will turn out and vote in their usual numbers (they have to try to defeat the Kenyanislamofascistsocialistnazi usurper, after all), just not with their usual enthusiasm.

Yeah, let’s not fall into a false sense of security. Republicans always come around and support the nominee, they do not eat their own in a general election.

And when it comes to the general, just like the doctor said when Newt Gingrich was born, “it’s gonna get ugly.”

I definitely agree. The far fringe (and many not so far out that way) won’t care if it’s not Palin and Bachmann on the ticket. They will be eager to “save America” from the gigantic pile of lies they’ve been fed.

Erickson is FUCKING insane. And as a lifelong Texan I can say that.
