Let Them Go Bankrupt!

It’s official, Government General Motors is once again the world’s largest automaker, topping the global sales charts in 2011 with sales in 2012 projected to increase by another million

General Motors surpassed Toyota and Volkswagen to reclaim the crown of world’s largest automaker with global sales of 9.03 million vehicles in 2011.

That was 11% higher than Volkswagen, which last week reported 2011 global sales of 8.16 million. Toyota has not yet reported its final 2011 sales, but last month the Japanese automaker estimated it sold 7.9 million vehicles globally last year. [...]

GM’s 2011 sales rose 7.6% from [2010]. Sales in the U.S. led the way for Chevrolet with total vehicle sales of 1,775,812, up more than 13%. China posted record sales of 595,068, up 9.5% from the previous year. Other markets that posted significant year-over-year increases include Vietnam (79%), Russia (49%), Turkey (30%) and Germany (21%).

Of course Mitt Romney’s solution for the American auto-industry was to let them go bankrupt.

IF General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye. It won’t go overnight, but its demise will be virtually guaranteed.

Good job, Mitt.

And Mitt is the GOP’s “eConOMICS” candidate?! Good gawd.

Mitt Romney was just following the script the Republicans used in the 1970s, when Chrysler got loan guarantees (which also paid off): everything would be better if we could just rid our companies of all those overpaid, underworked, unionized workers. That’s the important bit; everything else is just window-dressing.

Anyone who works for a living should think twice—or even thrice—before voting for Mitt Romney (or any other R).

This reminds me of a letter to the editor in a local Detroit Newspaper about a month ago from a guy who admitted that his business, (HIS) business was saved by the stimulus package, tate he would have lost HIS business were it not for the stimulus.

But, he would not vote for the President because he did not bring many job to Michigan.

I had a conversation last night with an acquaintance in which he repeated the wingnut talking points on how unions are killing business in this Country (OK, so it was him yelling and me calmly telling him he was full of shit). It kind of scares me how ignorant people are about why they can work in at least semi-safe environments for 40-hour workweeks with some benefits (yes, they’re dwindling). Oh yeah, there;s also the matter of wages greater than the pittances companies pay their overseas workforce.

The decades-long, anti-union perception management campaign has been very effective. Those folks can’t govern for shit, but they can market.

This is the longest week Mittens has ever had.

    He sucked at the debates

    Gingrich is surging

    GM is surging

    Losing Iowa

He’s so wound up, he’s losing his cool when confronted with questions from the “small people”

    Keep piling on

I know! Isn’t it awesome? :) . I hooted with laughter when I heard that he lost in Iowa while driving to work this morning. We no longer have a clown car full of entertainment, we have an entire circus to enjoy now.

In fairness Mittens, he’s held every position on the bailouts at one time or another.
