Doof Quote(s) of the Day

If Mitt Romney’s objective is to convince voters that he is not a cyborg, he isn’t doing himself any favors.

“Not as closely as some of the most ardent fans. But I have some great friends that are NASCAR team owners.” -Mitt Romney on following NASCAR

and…

“I like those fancy raincoats you bought” [...] “Really sprung for the big bucks.” -Mitt Romney mocking ponchos

Because mocking NASCAR fans for being unable to afford Armani raincoats is exactly what you want to do in the middle of the Republican primary.

Does Romney even have the capacity for empathy?

“Does Romney even have the capacity for empathy?”

But doesn’t this make him the ideal GOP candidate? Wasn’t Obama criticized because of him mentioning that he tried to empathized with people?

At some point, Romney is going to be speaking to the NRA and he will admit to hunting humans for sport.

“Does Romney even have the capacity for empathy?”

No. But he probably once knew someone who does. Maybe even a relative.

    So that counts – right?

    • D_C_Wilson

Most likely, he hired someone to feel empathy for him.

JM, I’ve got a Romney related question for you and any of your readers, primarily because I’m too damn indifferent to look it up.

I get it that Romney is being touted as ‘business friendly’, or at least ‘financial institution friendly’, but what exactly was his role as a founder of Bain? Did he actually get into the financial analysis? Was he the front man only playing on the Romney name/connections? Door #3?

I mentioned to a friend of mine this weekend a thought I had about Romney’s complete inability to relate to humans. I told him that if I had been on Romney’s campaign staff all this time, that even if I believed that he could be president, even if he was paying me a lot of money to advise his candidacy and promote him, I would have quit over the “my wife drives a couple of cadillacs” statement.

I would have just walked in and said, “You know something Willard, you are clearly the dumbest son of a bitch in electoral politics. I can’t take it anymore–you are too stupid to be president.”

People are unemployed, hurting, striving to make ends meet and put grub on the table, and he gets up and talks about his wife drives a couple of cadillacs. I am not sure why, but even in terms of all the stupid, idiotic, out-of-touch statements this moron has made–even his biggest gaffes–don’t hold a patch to this one. The cadillac thing really pisses me off. God how I hate this guy…

He’s doing everything he can to make sure Santorum gets to be the one who loses to Obama in November. I think maybe his heart’s not set on winning anymore.

Oh no Matt, don’t give him an out here. I prefer to think of him as a rich but dumb a-hole.
