Hero of the Day

This. A thousand times this.

A Democratic lawmaker in Georgia is responding to a Republican-backed effort to prevent women from receiving abortions 20 weeks after fertilization with a tongue-in-cheek measure that seeks to limit men’s health care choices: legislation that “would limit vasectomies only to men who will die or suffer dangerous health problems without one.” “Thousands of children are deprived of birth in this state every year because of the lack of state regulation over vasectomies,” said Rep. Yasmin Neal (D) explained. “It is patently unfair that men can avoid unwanted fatherhood by presuming that their judgment over such matters is more valid than the judgment of the General Assembly, while women’s ability to decide is constantly up for debate throughout the United States.”

only to men who will die or suffer dangerous health problems without one

The GOP doesn’t make that distinction.

There are a bunch of these being proposed in various states. One democratic rep in VA added an amendment to that horrendous “rape” bill that men should get have to rectal probes of men and several in OK proposed that any man not putting his semen into a woman’s vagina should be arrested for killing babies (the “every sperm is sacred”). It’s so nice to see women standing up and saying something, in a wonderfully smart and satirical way, about this madness.

Funny that they’ll pay for Viagra and not for contraception. I think they should ban Viagra for men unable to produce viable sperm. They should have to get a sperm motility test before they can get a prescription. No use getting that erection if you can’t make a baby from it.

Another excellent idea…I’ve written about this before on my blog…it infuriates me how the industry is like Pez dispensers with Viagra but contraception, no way.
