The Largest Medicare Fraud in History…

..and it comes from a Teabagger.

According to a report from the Los Angeles Times, Dr. Jacques Roy is facing life in prison for a $375 million dollar fraud scheme.

A Texas doctor was accused Tuesday in the largest Medicare fraud case in US history, with federal prosecutors charging him with scamming the government with $375 million in phony billings. [...]

The newspaper reported that Roy and his assistant, who was also charged, sent “recruiters” door-to-door in the Dallas area to get people to sign bogus medical forms that were then used in the alleged scam. The pair even went as far as to pay homeless people $50 each to sign the forms, according to the DOJ accusations.

The grounds that he’s a Tea Partier? Political donations.

Yes, our country deserves better. Better than screwing Medicare out of hundreds of millions of dollars while simultaneously contributing to the campaigns of those who would use him as an example of the failure of Medicare. This is full-circle hypocrisy.

Typical fat-ass, doughy white, bald-headed Texas Republican. They all look the same and all are CROOKS as well.

Isn’t this just wonderful? I love it. The biggest scam in Medicare/Medicaid history was busted on President Obama’s watch.

And Mitt Romney runs around telling everyone that the president cut $500 billion from Medicare like Leatherface at a retirement home, or a negro-reefer head riding in on the Four Horses coming for your tenacious heart. The Obama democrats did this by phasing/cutting out Medicare Advantage– a GOP favorite that was breaking the program through the back door. Motherfuckers through and through. And while Mitt Romney lies and tries to position himself as a sincere broker for its long-term health and sustainability, it is Barack Obama who once again proves his administration is the undisputed champion of Medicare. Oh sure, Republicans like to pay lip-service to eliminating waste and fraud in the system, but this was going on for five years, and by a Teabagging lunatic, no less.

The right wing conservative idea of eliminating waste and fraud in Medicare is to just eliminate Medicare. And, like Paul Ryan’s “budget,” which they all voted for lockstep, and would certainly implement if they ever seize the majority of the three branches again– would eliminate this “unconstitutional fraud” once and for all. And then, they’d use undisclosed corporate dollars buying TV time to campaign on their heroism in eliminating waste and fraud!

The wingnut comments on this story are very telling, most of them blaming the government(read, “blame the victim,” as per usual)for being defrauded by fellow wingnuts. “It’s Medicare’s fault! Government can’t do anything right!”

They’re breaking the system while telling everyone it’s broken, and want the power to “fix it.”

That’s the real scam of all this!

    “This is full-circle hypocrisy.”

I read your commentary aloud to my mom.

Medicare is safer today than it ever was under any Republican sociopath out there, and it’s because of president Obama.

Man, if I were him, I’d be going off like Maximus Decimus Meridius with the severed head of right wing America in my hands.

This always cracks me up. My VA Senator (Jeff McWaters) made his fortune by creating a business that spends medicaid dollars for the state. He was involved in some defrauding of the government and paid a fine for it instead of going to jail. Now, he’s a wingnut legislator railing about government waste and spending.

My favorite line of BS from the rwnj’s is that because social programs are rife with fraud, they should be killed and let private companies do it all – with no oversight, of course.

Now, when is Rick Scott going to get busted for Medicare fraud?

This doctor is actually a Canadian living in Texas. See, even corruption has no boundaries.

  • ArrogantDemon

Well, he can always run for governor of Texas like another Medicare scammer has in Florida

This is not surprising — disgusting, but not surprising. A close friend once worked for a chain of drug stores that habitually overcharged Medicare/Medicaid for drugs provided to nursing home patients. The owner of the chain was a very conservative, ‘family values’ kind of guy who, nevertheless, condoned cheating his fellow taxpayers out of their money so he could get rich. When he was caught by the Feds, he was fined $20K — yes, just 20 grand on a scam that netted him at least a million — and prohibited from taking Medicare money for 2 years. That was over a decade ago, and I understand his company, and the nursing homes also involved in the scam, are all still in business and turning a nice profit. Meanwhile Tommy Chong goes to jail for calling his pipes ‘bongs’ instead of pipes. Talk about a miscarriage of justice.
