Vote For Me, Or the Terrorists Win

That headline isn’t a joke. Romney said it.

“If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and frankly I’d be making it easier for Senator Clinton or Obama to win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.”

That was part of his CPAC address. He was right about forestalling his national campaign — I became a borderline alcoholic during the 2008 primary thinking the same thing would happen to the Democrats. But the “surrender to terror” thing is so 2002.

Well, to be fair, most of what Republicans say about Obama and Democrats nowadays is “so 1972,” so in that sense Romney is ahead of the pack.

Romney would be more believable if instead he had said ‘vote for me or I’ll shoot this dog’.
