Birtherism Still Won’t Die

If at first you don’t succeed, try again, right?

That’s the advice a group of birthers in California took to heart after their last attempt to sue the state over the eligibility of President Obama to appear on the state ballot failed.

The same group, lead by Republican write-in candidate John Albert Dummett, and Markham Robinson, chairman of the American Independent Party of California, has filed another lawsuit with the secretary of state demanding that she verify President Obama was born in the U.S.

A group of minor party candidates and conspiracy theorists have sued California Secretary of State Debra Bowen to demand that she verify the eligibility of all presidential candidates seeking to be on the November ballot.

The so-called Birthers filed the lawsuit in state court in Sacramento, taking up the advice of a federal appeals court last year that they bring their suspicions that President Barack Obama wasn’t born in the United States to a court’s attention during an election, not afterward.

And what if the secretary of state did verify his eligibility? Then what? Will they accept that he was born in the U.S.?

I doubt it, but I also doubt they’ve thought that far ahead. Like a dog chasing a car, what happens if you catch it?

There, I just saved Ms. Bowen two seconds.

Joe Arpayaso* is desperately trying to make the DoJ investigation of his department seem like payback for his brave, principled investigation of the President.

      * I believe it was the estimable Gustavo Arellano who said that Latinos in Maricopa County came up with that wonderful nickname: payaso is Spanish for “clown.”

Becky, I want to see YOUR mother’s birth certificate, to prove you were born in the nuthouse. Quit beating the dead horse. It’s so last year. Get on with your life, if you even have one.

Like all conspiracy theories, those who inconvenience the true believers with troubling things like facts and reality are simply members of the ever-growing cabal trying to dupe America, or are among the duped. The mere existence of evidence against the conspirators’ claims is yet further proof that the conspiracy exists, right?

THERE IS NO EVIDENCE !!! That’s like saying because people say Rick Santorum is a closeted homosexual, it MUST be true, simple because so many people believe it.

      • Treading_Water

I didn’t know that Rick Santorum was a closeted homosexual. It all makes sense now. Thanks.

      • Treading_Water

Oh, and I think you missed a word. There is plenty of evidence AGAINST conspirator’s claims. In fact, all of the evidence, overwhelmingly, goes against the conspirator’s claims.

Birthers now remind me of little kids that continue to ask different people permission to do something they really want to do until someone gives them the answer they want.

    Not unlike this funny clip:

I do wish the birfers would get a new obsession already. Or, better, take their meds.

“…demand that she verify the eligibility of all presidential candidates seeking to be on the November ballot.”

Well, fine, Ms. Bowen, ask each candidate to produce a birth certificate, i.e., order up an official verification of their place of birth from whatever entity has it (state or county government most often). Such a document will likely have the raised seal of the issuing authority.

Under the full faith and credit clause of the Constitution of the United States, Miss Bowen will accept such documents as sufficient verification of place of birth. Full stop.

Last dying gasps of “The Stoopid”.

This is such a non-issue non-issue at this point that blurps about this nonsense should appear in the comedy section in HuffPo or the “Weird but True . . .” sections in other established news entities. They need to . . .

If Mitt Romney’s dad was born in Mexico, doesn’t that make Mitt an “anchor baby”? Shouldn’t he have to produce HIS birth certificate? Just askin’.

John Dummett, GOP Candidate for President has filed CONSTITUTIONAL lawsuits in several state. The Defendants are NOT OBAMA. They are the DNC, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Debbie Wasserman Schults..those responsible for sending their nominee to the SoS for placement on the ballot. John’s lawsuits, called Dummett’s Dictum DICTATES to the defendants, “prove your candidate is Constitutionally eligible with valid documentation, or you are enjoined from placing that name on the ballot”. HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHERE OBAMA WAS BORN. HIS BC, SSA, SSN, NONE OF THAT ‘BIRTHER’ STUFF IS IN HIS LAWSUITS, IT IS NOT A BIRTHER/CRIMINAL LAWSUIT! SO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT! Obama wrote in his book, and it shows on the BC that he released April 27, 2011, his father was a Kenyan British Citizen which, under British law, made Obama a British Citizen at birth. There is an age requirement for a mother to convey her citizenship, and Dunham was not old enough to do so, but HAD SHE BEEN, by US law, Obama would have been born a DUAL citizen. Neither of these meets the Constitutional requirement of Natural Born Citizen, which, in a Supreme Court RULING in Minor vs Happersett, natural born citizen is defined as being born in the country to 2 citizen parents of the country. John Dummett’s Dictum in AZ, NH, DC, TN, and GA DICTATE to the JUDGE of these courts, to REAFFIRM this Supreme Court RULING to try to make people understand there is a difference between a CITIZEN and a NATURAL born citizen.
The reason the Dummett’s Dictum in California made Debra Bowen the defendant, to prove candidates are eligible, is because a precedent has been set in California in the past with the Secretary of State, including Bowen herself, removing OTHER candidates from the ballot for not meeting the Constitutional requirements. So, Bowen cannot say she does not have the authority or power to remove Obama if he doesn’t have valid documents to prove he is natural born.

“California secretaries of state have historically exercised their due diligence by
reviewing necessary background documents, verifying that the candidates that were submitted by the respective political parties as eligible for the ballot were, indeed, eligible. In 1968, the Peace and Freedom Party submitted the name of Eldridge Cleaver as a qualified candidate for president of the United States. The then-Secretary of State, Mr. Frank Jordan, found that, according to Mr. Cleaver’s birth certificate, he would be only 34 years old at the time of the general election, one year shy of the 35 years of age needed to be on the ballot as a candidate for president,” the complaint said.

“Using his administrative powers, Mr. Jordan removed Mr. Cleaver from the ballot. Mr. Cleaver, unsuccessfully, challenged this decision lo the Supreme Court of the State of California, and, later, to the Supreme Court of the United States, which affirmed the actions of the California Secretary of State by denying review.

Similarly, in 1984 Peace and Freedom Party candidate Larry Holmes was removed from the ballot when the “then-California Secretary of State, Daniel M. Burns, checked Mr. Holmes’ eligibility, it was found that Mr. Holmes was, similarly, not eligible, and Mr. Holmes was removed from the ballot.”

John Dummett is looking into having news organizations sued for libel for not getting their facts straight, so you might want to consider making some corrections and apologies in your next article.
