Idaho Joins the List of Ultrasound States

The Republican Party: shoving their laws into your vagina from coast to coast. Now in Idaho:

The state Senate in Idaho today passed a bill mandating an ultrasound for any woman seeking an abortion. The legislation prompted a protest on the capitol steps a couple of weeks ago, and last week a senate hearing room was packed as the State Affairs Committee approved the bill, 7-2, along party lines.

    “Double Ultrasound” even.

Without a veto from Republican Governor Butch Otter, women in the state will be provided with a list of “free ultrasounds” at pregnancy centers that will attempt to talk them out of having abortions, then still be forced to undergo expensive ultrasounds performed at an actual clinic before terminating a pregnancy.

I guess they didn’t get the McCain memo.

Right. Good old McCain. You know, the guy that used air quotes to reference “womens’ health” in his debate with then candidate Obama.

Keep it up, Republican mental midgets. The more you spread your mysogenistic, anti-female agenda across America, the greater your chances of losing big in November will become.

Just when you thought these loonies couldn’t get any more creepy and clueless, one says this:

Just before the Idaho’s Senate passed the bill, which requires woman to have an ultrasound prior to obtaining an abortion, opponents of the bill pointed out that it makes no exception for rape victims, incest victims or women in medical emergencies.

[State Senator Chuck] Winder, a Republican from Boise [and a sponsor of the bill], responded to those concerns by raising the question of whether women understand when they have been raped.

“Rape and incest was used as a reason to oppose this,” Winder said on the Senate floor. “I would hope that when a woman goes in to a physician with a rape issue, that physician will indeed ask her about perhaps her marriage, was this pregnancy caused by normal relations in a marriage or was it truly caused by a rape. I assume that’s part of the counseling that goes on.”

I really have nothing to say except that anyone who votes for Sen. Winder is stupid.
