Server Problems

So you’ve probably noticed that our server keeps crashing for hours at a time. This is due to both higher-than-usual traffic and, concurrently, something or someone attacking the site.

I’m not sure what will solve the problem, but we’re exploring some solutions.

    I have noticed the frequent outages and slowdowns. Figured you had been noticed by some asshat and were the target of a crude DoS attack. If your host isn’t doing so, you may want to consider notifying the FBI cyber-crimes unit.

      Unfortunately it’s probably a hacker. We had the same problem and we use the same hosting service.

        Actually the culprit seems to be random access from Chinese bots trying to spam the comment section.

          This is true; sometimes when I go to the comments section I see Chinese alphabet characters. Or maybe I’m finally going insane and this is how that shit is going to manifest itself.

    We had the same problem for a while with our WordPress site. Obviously some right wing hackers. We have few ads and run mostly on contributions but we were still able to get add on security for a nominal fee. I don’t want to say the name of the company we use but you should be able to find one pretty easily.
