The Climate Crisis Claims Its First Nation

It’s going to get way, way worse than this.

Kiribati, an island nation located in the central Pacific, rises just a few feet above sea level in many areas. Elevating ocean levels could soon render the entire country uninhabitable.

With leading world economic powers doing little to combat climate change, Kiribati is drawing up contingency plans to relocate the country’s entire population to another island nation, Fiji, if necessary.

    Wow.

And a major American political party has devoted itself to the cause of continuing, and escalating, the process of filling the world with filth.

Driving through my peaceful little rural cowtown in the foothills of San Diego the other day, the sun is shining, not a cloud in the sky, the fields and pastures are in full bloom….but my predominant thought was “those assholes would spoil ALL of this for a dime”

Exactly….maybe even for a nickel. Assholes

Con-republicans are the collective embodiment of cultural suppression, always trying to get back to some non-existent past before the founding, or at our founding, or before the Civil War, or some other bullshit place in home-schooled wingnut revisionist history.

The U.S. constitution is a dead document that can only be interpreted properly by pro-corporate/anti-government zealots, or you hate America!

New markets and economic growth continue to be smothered under their leadership. A free market when they say so.

I’ve heard conservative personalities and their idiot-army– the same idiots who told us Sarah Palin was more qualified to be president than Barack Obama. The same people attacking scientists and telling us that greenhouse gases and global warming are an Al Gore Leftist lie; that torture is a valuable intelligence gathering tool, or that Iraq had WMD’s and top-heavy tax cuts are sound economics– are the same people who have made some variation of the statement time and time again that preemptive war and military occupation in the middle east is all necessary to “drag those savages into the 21st century, kicking and screaming.”

“We have to drag those cave dwellers into the modern world kicking and screaming!”

I’ve heard this over and over to justify their brutal ignorance and fear.

My reply is always, “you first, assholes!”

Works every time (not at all).
