Quote of the Day

“I simply make the point, as an editor might say, to check it out; do not buy into the BS that you hear about spending and fiscal constraint with regard to this administration. I think doing so is a sign of sloth and laziness.” Press Secretary Jay Carney to reporters on Air Force One

He’s absolutely right. That said, the White House needs to do a better job delivering the truth about its record on spending and taxes. So far, they’re not doing it.

The Obama administration is absolutely terrible at touting its accomplishments, always has been. The influence of Fox News makes this issue that much more pertinent.

    • D_C_Wilson

Agreed. With Fox and the GOP determined to undermine or discount their accomplishments, the administration needs to get the word out better. Let them shriek about exploiting the death of bin Laden. Bush spent nearly eight years exploiting the deaths of 3,000 innocent Americans. Obama deserves the exploit the death of one evil man.

Exactly, here are a couple articles directly related to Jay’s comments and they completely lack “sloth and laziness.”

I said this very thing to my sister 2 days ago. Rachel Maddow also played a clip last night of Mark Halperin the “Dick” interviewing Romney. She then challenged the press to report the facts! I think she may have even showed that chart you guys had up yesterday showing Obama’s spending at the lowest since Eisenhower. My advice to the Whitehouse and Dems is to do to the press what that idiot Gingrich did to John King during that CNN debate. Take them to the woodshed everytime they see a member of the media allowing the GOP to spew it’s talking points. They should get themselves booked on those shows and tell the host that they saw this interview with candidate x or Congressmember x and you just sat there and allowed him/her to lie, unchallenged. Then tell them that it’s very important that they report the facts if the public is going to make an educated decision. I’m sure that would go viral and these stenographers would think twice before letting them get away with it again.

It’s amazing how this administration is more willing to tout it’s republican economic bone fides, i.e. reducing spending (in a recession no less), than it is in messaging a progressive economic argument for anti-cyclical spending. Whether they are able to get congress to go along with this argument is moot, especially if you never make the argument in the first place. But why would this matter to an economically leaning center right politician like Obama anyway. He’ll be cashing out with his banker buddies once he’s out of office. Thanks for showing us the way Bubba Clinton, you’re the best, and by that I mean you sold out the general welfare for party loyalty and your own enrichment. Now onto the Grand Bargain where Cescans will feel the sting of Obama’s betrayal. I’m going to enjoy watching Bob squirm when he tries to spin that one.
