Volkswagon Delivers the Hover Car

This is what everyone has been waiting for. An actual hover car that isn’t just a jacked up helicopter.

Of course it’s only a concept, but this is how it will eventually work.

The hovercraft, as seen in the concept video above, uses electromagnetic levitation to float along its own grid above the regular road network; distance sensors keep the craft from colliding with other vehicles. The disc-shaped pod seats two people and is controlled by a joystick that offers amazing maneuverability. The car can move both back-and-forth and side-to-side and can even spin on an axis. To top it off, the concept car produces zero emissions.

WTF’s wrong with a jacked up helicopter? Helicopters are fun to fly…

So, the Chinese and the Germans are teaming up to make hover cars while we’re arguing over pennies to fix bridges.

    America is so fucked.

That was precisely my thought. We are doomed because we are so busy navel gazing and talking to the crazy voices in polity that we lost sight f the larger world. Sigh….

Michio Kaku has been talking about these benefits for years.
All of our wars and pollution for what? Overcoming friction.
With a nudge, a magnetically levitating vehicle could theoretically travel cross country.
All that said, it took me a while to determine if the commercial is a spoof or not, and the creepy bald dude aint helpin…

And as you all alluded to below, we spend our time and treasure bickering about the friction in our pants.
