In other news, the Republicans successfully filibustered equal pay for women in the senate today. Shocking, I know.

Polls close in Wisconsin at 8 p.m. CST, 9 p.m EST

Democracy = Government of the people, by the people, for the people.
Republicanism = Government for power’s sake, only for important people, at the expense of the little people.

You know what BenAu, the people keep rewarding Republicans even though the party works “at the expense of the little people.” We might as well come to terms with reality: only in rare instances do the slaves rebel against their masters. By the way, from its inception, American democracy always favored “important people.”At every stage, the inclusion of “non-important people” in governance” has come about as a result of long time, sustained struggles.

Annnnd Walker is the projected winner. The last shred of faith I had in this country has died.

    • MrDHalen

A vote for The Race to the Bottom!!! I’m done feeling sorry for people who vote against their own interest.

    • ranger11

      Wait til November…then kill it.

      • D_C_Wilson

It’s already dead. If Wisconsin will vote to keep a corrupt slime ball like Walker, then what hope does the rest of the country have?

        We deserve President Romney.

        • MrDHalen

I’m getting there on the deserves front. I’m reading people posting on left-sites about how the Democratic leaders didn’t do enough or spend enough. Really? No, Really? It’s a freaking recall election after the guy went full facist on the state. We shouldn’t have needed to spend anything on this, Walkers actions should have been enough.

I’m really cynicle right. It’s not our leaders who suck, it’s the American people who suck right now. Our elected officials are still representatives of us, the American people; and they suck because we suck!!!

The margin is too big for any amazing Democratic help to have made a difference in this election. Maybe it would have closed it to 4 or 5 points rather than 8 to 9.

          • JMAshby

In this case I have to agree. 37% of self-identified union members voted for Walker.

          • MrDHalen

I saw that stat and just shook my head.

I’m sick of “low information” voters as well. I have a life, work, and hobbies, but I manage to follow my government enough to know who is really on my side and what their doing.

I can’t believe people want to return to the Robber Barons age. Really folks? Really?

          • ninjaf

I guess this makes them more self-loathing, low self-esteem voters than low information voters?

    • nathkatun7

D_C_Wilson, I think that for you to loose faith is a mistake! You should never give up just because you lost the first round. It is when things are tough that the “tough get going.” So pick yourself up and fight even harder the next time around. Most of the important achievements in this, or any other, country have always come about as a result of long term struggles Many of these struggles included defeats and setbacks.

Walker and the moneyed interests may have won this round, but they have yet to win the final battle. Remember we won a round in Ohio. So I call this as a tied win. So, in my humble opinion, this is no the time to throw in the towel! We have just began the fight. We should never underestimate the power of the moneyed interests to mislead people to vote against their interests. However, once people are awakened, the few monied interests cannot forever prevail. Serious struggles for freedom and justice were never won instantly. M<any took decades of building on small gains while also experiecing set-backs.

So ,pay no attention to the 24/7 instant gratification media narratives. What the people of Wisconsin did to confront the moneyed interests, though they fell short, was monumental! We need to build on this for the future. For us oldies, we remember the saying that "Rome wasn't built in a day." For me, I still marvel at the audacity, and grit, of the people of Wisconsin to stand up to this bully and his billionaire supporters. Rather than despair Democrats and progressives should use this moment as an inspiration to fight harder.

I call shenanigans. There’s no way, with that volume of voters, that they can call this election based on exit polls and shit like that which I thought we discarded after the Florida fiasco. I’m sure at the very least it’s within the margin needed for a recall. If the results stand with no shenanigans? Well, fuck them, they can choke on Walker. Sorry, it shouldn’t really be that close in the first place.

  • mrbrink

Some ‘weird and creepy’ numbers from tonight’s result in WI.

Exit polling is reporting 38% of union households going for Walker(calling this consistent with previous exit polling results).

18% of those who say they plan to vote for president Obama this year voted for Scott Walker? Weird.

Which can only mean Tom Barrett is an openly gay muslim trying to sell the Packers to China after first denying their wives access to healthcare and cutting off their collective bargaining rights, right? Is Tom Barrett a pedophile? What’s it take?!

The capture and rationing of rights and democracy… is a winning platform? Creepy as fuck.

    • MrDHalen

And the guy is about to do the perp walk for the feds!!!

If it was money that saved Walker, then we’re done. If you can save a guy like him with money, then people are just stupid. I’m done making excuses for people who live in a democracy.

The whole thing smells bad to me.

In any case, my concerns that the monied faction, the ultimate minority in this country, will completely take over and decide all elections until Citizens United is overturned.

      Corporations are NOT fucking people.

I guess they just don’t like recall elections. I know I didn’t like the recall of Gray Davis in California. It didn’t seem fair at the time. The people of Wisconsin deserve this asshole like I deserve Rick fucking Scott. They voted him in twice with relatively healthy margins. There was a cheesy KISS song in the 70′s called “What is My Charisma”. Well, what is this fucking guys charisma Wisconsin?!
