Chart of the Day

Funds raised by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and his opponent Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett in convenient chart form.

As you can see, the majority of Walker’s funds have come from wealthy out of state donors. People who wish they were the Koch Brothers.

Aaaaand that’s why he’s going to win. Really sick of this state…

I believe you’re right. It seems many more people have bought into “The Race to the Bottom!” Brought to you by your local GOP!

It truly is sad to see so many people hand over their best interest to CEO’s. They have become our kings.

Let ‘em go Red and enjoy the benefits of privatizing their energy resources and utilities. There are days I don’t think my fellow Americans can get any dumber but they consistently prove me wrong.

If this chart was right, Walker was still able to raise $10 million from inside Wisconsin. This is 2 1/2 times what Barrett was able to raise all together. That alone is crazy. The fact that the race appears to be so close despite this disparity is amazing.

I was always far more comfortable with targeting state senators than going after Walker, but (for whatever reason) this is what the Dems in Wisconsin wanted. Successfully removing Walker seemed like an uphill fight from the beginning, the outside money only made it more improbable.

That’s an extremely obscene amount of money flushed into Walker’s campaign. Some powerful forces want something from Wisconsin and I don’t think it’s their cheese.

I remember all the money that flew into my state of MN when Franken finally won after so many months – $millions on both sides. We’ll never know who “really” won that race, given all the legal wrestling over this ballot and that, but MN accepted the results and moved on. (Franken “prevailed” by something like 300 votes.)

At least with WI, the decision is clear. There won’t be a re-count. Maybe it’s just because of the money. But even many union members (ex-members?) voted for Walker. Wisconsin tax payers want more control over state unions, and they got it. Walker is winning by a larger margin tonight than he did in 2010.

    One down, …

    Woodie Guthrie redux:

    This land AIN’T your land
    This land is MY land
    From (wildfire torched) California
To (trash strewn) New York island
From the (clear cut) Redwood forests
To the (oil spilt) Gulf Stream waters

THIS LAND WAS BOUGHT BY HIM AND ME!
