I Love Lamp

Mitt Romney still loves things.

“It’s not just because I love job creators, it’s because I love jobs,” Romney said. “I want more good jobs for the American people and I want such competition for good, hard workers that salaries and wages go up so people make more money. I want to help the middle class of America and I’m going to do it.”

Well that’s a relief. He loves jobs. He wants good jobs. Case closed.

I guess teachers, police officers and fire fighters aren’t “good jobs” that he “loves” because he wants to cut those jobs.

On the topic of Grand Nagus Mitt’s statement the other day, that we need to “cut back on” teachers, firefighters and police, in order to, quote, “help the American people,” I’d just like to know one thing:

How does cutting back on education, law enforcement, emergency response and public safety, viz., on services whose main definitional purpose is to help people, qualify as, you know, help, for people?

He is beginning to remind me of Herman Munster. Nah, even Herman had a heart.

Maybe the monster in Young Frankenstein.

Except the monster could do a creditable song-and-dance (well, dance) with Dr. Frankenstein, so he had rhythm.

Unless you’re thinking of Frau Blücher …

    BOOM, goes the dynamite!

In Romney’s (and his ilk) mind: When I need people to work to make ME more money, I create a job. When that person costs me money I don’t want to spend (regardless of that person’s merit or contribution), I’m just managing my resources/leverage/risk/etc by dismissing them. So in his mind he’s never “fired” anyone; he’s just “managed resources to make more profit.”

Currently, there is no profit in teachers, fire fighters, and police. I say currently because it feels like many people would like to do to all public services what has been done for defense and prisons in the U.S.

You can’t love those jobs. They aren’t the right height. Calling Procrustes!

Bonus geek (and Greek) points for the reference.

Said by a guy who admits to being unemployed since 2007. If he loves jobs so much, why hasn’t he had one?

Just as Sloth love Chunk, Mitt love Jobs.
