Republican Sabotage Illustrated

Greg Sargent reports:

Bad new poll for Obama: 52 percent of independents say his policies have not helped create jobs. Of course, majorities of indys also supported infrastructure spending and aid to states to … create jobs, both of which were blocked by Republicans.

In other words: Indies agree that Obama should create jobs with infrastructure and aid to the states. The Republicans blocked those measures by filibustering the American Jobs Act. So the indies blamed… Obama?

Ah crap.

Add to that the Republicans again kissing the ass of the oil industry while fucking working people (quite the acrobats aren’t they?) by tieing (or at least trying to) the Keystone XL Pipeline to the Transportation Bill. This could sideline 1.9 million jobs and drive unemployment up quite a bit…unless I’m interpreting this wrong.

Well that’s to be expected seeing as the gatekeepers for keeping the public informed are nothing but reality-tv stenographers.

  • trgahan

52 percent are just not paying attention. Did these same Independants have to explain how tax cuts to the top percentage of earners, downsizing government at all levels, and more deregulation of already highly deregulated industries is supposed to led to more infrastructre spending and aid to states?

Which is why when most people describe themselves as “independent,” I hear “moron.”

  • Chachizel

I’m sorry, but anyone that calls themselves an ‘independent’ and chooses Romney’s policies is NOT an independent. You are a Republican

    • bphoon

I have a brother-in-law who swears up and down that he’s an independent since he doesn’t affiliate with any political party. However, he has the wingnut talking points down pat. He also gets most of his news from wnd.com…tells you something, doesn’t it?

      • Chachizel

        Ha….my point exactly.

      • D_C_Wilson

Tells me your brother-in-law is living in a fantasy world. I’ve read several articles on World Nut Daily and haven’t seen one with any connection to reality.

Anyone who votes for Romney or any Rethug and makes less than $200K a year is like a slave supporting the auction block process.

People who call themselves independent are just too lazy to research and study the facts. They are not smart enough to understand the inplications of Republicans blocking the American Jobs Act and everything else that might have made their lives better. .

    Morons personified.

    • KXA

Wow, SW I wonder why more “independents” don’t agree with you. What a charmer you are. I am an independent. I’m not lazy or stupid. Zealots of any kind seem more Like morons to me.
Keep winning those hearts and minds Pres. Obama needs all the help he can get!

I have been an independent for the last 35 years. I carefully look at the Candidates and what they have done. I do not vote for parties.I try to follow the money and how that ties into votes I voted for Nixon in 1972, for Reagan in 1980 and for GHW Bush in both 1988 and 1992. I also have voted for democrats, like Clinton in his second term, for Gore, and for Obama. However, I threw my vote in 2004 to the Libertarian ticket due to the extremely poor quality of both Kerry and bush.
I also look carefully at the qualifications of the down ticket candidates, like judges and school board members(I live in a city of over 1 million people. Despite the great number of registered voters, in our June election, which was a city bond election, fewer than 6% of the people bothered to vote).
I did vote for my democratic represenative, but he was beaten by the teahadist candidate.
BTW, according to what I have read, less than 40% of registered voters voted in 2010. At least 10% of those voted for democratic candidates. So what math is the rethug/teahadist collective using when they claim a majority of the people are in favor of their policies.
So far, I am thinking of voting for Obama, however Romney is not entirely a darth vader type, like cheney was, and depending on what Obama and the democrats do, Romney could very well win. With the american sheeple unable to retain any information(likeGobbels said, repeat the big lie often enough and the sheeple will think it is truth)
unless continuously repeated for weeks, and the fact that so far this year the democrats do not appear to have learned that they need a spine-and why the senate still retains the 60 vote rule is beyond me, does anyone believe that if the rethug/teahadist collective wins in Nov they will keep that rule? Also, does anyone think that they will not fully enforce the filibuster rule and make whoever claims filibuster, actually get up and talk? The democratic majority leader has done nothing over the last 4 years to stand up to the minority.
Like I said, general statements like the one you made about independents show your total ignorance about what an independent is.
I never vote for a party, I always vote the individual. There have been good republicians in the past, and if they can rid themselves of their astroturf organ, the teahadists, there could very well be some in the future.

Fascism has come to america, wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross, and financed by plutocrats.

I’m really sick of these polls that say what Americans “want”. What Americans say they want is worth about a gnat’s fart. What matter is how they vote. If we vote in the same group of teabagger morons from 2010 AND Romney, then we’ll get the government we deserve. And no one will have the right to act shocked when there’s no money being spent on infrastructure next year.

    • http://drangedinaz.wordpress.com/ IrishGrrrl

Well provided we aren’t the one getting crushed under all the collapsing infrastructure, I think we should start preparing our, ‘We Told You So!’ campaign.

  • KXA

Anyone hear able to explain to me why they are surprised by these findings? Please explain again why the President has not made it clear regarding the Republicant obstruction. Why again wasn’t it framed from day one as the Bush recession, the challenge of cleaning up after reckless Republican deficit spending, unfunded wars etc. Democrats can win nearly every argument if they just list the facts. Why don’t they do that?
Is this one of those many dimensional chess moves that I just can’t understand?
    Please school me.

  • Angelo_Frank

“52 percent of independents” probably rely on Fox News for their source of information.

  • thekidde

Gee, guess those wonderful, decisive independents aren’t so freakin’ intelligent after all. IQ deficit seems to be endemic in the electorate these days.
