Republicans Unhinged by Immigration Anouncement

Irrespective of the rude interruption of President Obama’s statement today from Tucker Carlson’s Daily Caller, the president’s move on immigration has already forced the Right Wing to expose their ass to America.

It’s not amnesty, immunity, or even citizenship for “illegals”, but the Right Wing is predictably labeling it as such, which I’m sure the president was at least partially counting on.

While they do account for the largest portion of immigrants, this announcement wasn’t specifically directed at Latinos, but as you can see Matt Drudge used a picture of a man with a sombrero and the president holding tacos in his hands to depict the situation.

With some stipulations, such as having no criminal background and a high school education, young immigrants will be eligible for work permits to remain here in the United States.

It’s not the Dream Act, but as long as Congress continues to sit on its hands and sing La La La, it’s one of the few things the president can do. This will effect as many as 800,000 immigrants.

The Republican party, and Mitt Romney, will now have to figure out how they will oppose this without cratering their approval rating even further. And of course we can expect the GOP base to react with all due respect and candor, right?

Absolutely dying to see Romneybot 2.0′s response. Brilliant move by the President. And you are right that it is not just Latinos who will benefit from this announcement. Not sure why every time we talk about immigrants, somehow we bring up Mexicans.

So Drudge is guilty of, what, suggesting Obama’s move at this time has everything to do with bolstering his support among Hispanics? Certainly it’s not meant to show how concerned he is about young undocumented Canadians. Who among those cheering Obama’s action are the most vocal? The Hispanic Advocacy groups.

Explain to me why the Left accuses those who oppose illegal immigration of being racist, this site included?

I’ll explain it. It’s because illegal immigration impacts mostly Hispanics. Obama isn’t pandering to Hispanics, Ashby says, but Arizona’s sb1070, an anti-illegal immigration law – which, by the way, affects not just Hispanics- is labeled a racist law by this site and the Left specifically because it primarily affects Arizona’s 95+% of illegals who happen to be Hispanic.

Drudge nailed it on the head.

young, undocumented canadians, irishpersons, germans, scandinavians, italians etc.. are affected by the EO. that you and drudge choose to see brown people (probably looking a lot like the gentleman in the picture) whenever someone mentions illegal immigration is your problem.

What Drudge engages in is race-baiting. Good job missing the point and answering your own question.

By the way, the president doesn’t need to pander to Latinos. He already leads by a 43 point margin.

As JM Ashby notes, Obama’s already far ahead of Romney with Hispanic voters, so a craven political ploy would be superfluous. I have a simple gauge: whenever the Usual Suspects on the Right react like scalded cats, it’s a sure sign that whatever the thing may be is good for the country and alleviating an injustice afflicting some portion of innocent Americans. I think this action is every bit as important to those of Hispanic heritage as the civil rights laws of the 1960s was to black people suffering under segregation.

And why is it that when Obama does something for the people who helped get him elected he’s cynically ‘pandering,’ but when Romney advocates positions that help only those who vote Republican he’s just appealing to his constituency?

BTW, your ‘explanation’ is a distinction without a difference — the fact is, the SB-1070 law, as you admit, primarily affects Hispanics and the GOP knew that when they passed it.

Don’t worry, you’ll still get to pay them poverty wages, you just won’t get to threaten them with deportation anymore. Hunting season just got a little bit shorter.

It’s a bigger tent in the Democratic party because we have a tendency to expand the rights and protections of actual human beings, rather than deferring to GOD and corporation, or militant bands of death threatening racists.

Since you’re into to asking and answering your own questions, you should ask yourself why minorities in the GOP tent are always working the photo op booths?

First, that Drudge photo was racist, plain and simple, which you failed to notice.

Second, as a Canadian, let me just say you suck pig shit, you racist douchebag. Crawl back under the rock that you came from.
