Say Anything

Wherein Mitt Romney reaches into his ass and pulls out more phony statistics that do not represent empirical reality.

Today, government at all levels consumes 37 percent of the total economy or G.D.P. If Obamacare is allowed to stand, government will reach half of the American economy. And through the increasing controls government has imposed on industries like energy, financial services and automobiles, it will soon effectively control the majority of our economic activity.

One must ask whether we will still be a free enterprise nation and whether we will still have economic freedom. America is on the cusp of having a government-run economy. President Obama is transforming America into something very different than the land of the free and the land of opportunity.

The GDP of the U.S. was $15 trillion in 2011. For the government to “reach half of the American economy,” as Mitt Romney says it will, the federal budget would have to increase to $7.5 trillion dollars, while it’s currently projected to be $3.8 trillion in 2013. Are we to believe President Obama is going to somehow add $4 trillion to the federal budget? Like magic?

The Congressional Budget Office has projected that the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, whichever you prefer, will actually lower the deficit by over $150 billion over 10 years, not expand it by another $4 trillion. The federal deficit is projected to decrease by nearly $400 billion in 2013, by the way.

Romney is yanking these statistics straight out of his ass. And even by his standards, this is just plain silly.

Why does no one EVER ask Romney for specifics about what HE would do about the millions of uninsured and the millions more who cannot afford the co-pays and deductibles on their pitiful insurance coverage. Why does no one ever ASK him how much “opportunity” people have when they are too sick to work and can’t afford treatment… or even a roof to die under, if this trend continues?

I don’t honestly think this is unrelated to the latest revelations about how young Mitt liked to dress up in a uniform and pull people over… just for fun (not to mention the hair-cutting episode, because someone dared to be “different”). Deep down, he’s not about freedom; he’s about control and cruelty.

Because asking a republican for specifics or even to substantiate his claims is proof of liberal bias. And we all know how terrified the media is of that label.

They’ve been screaming that Medicare/Social Security/”entitlements” would consume the entirety of the federal budget 20 years out for the last 50+ years. Where the hell are the journalists who should be asking why these warnings should be believed now when they’ve never been true before?
