They Aren’t Hiding It

The Republican Party of Texas has released their official party platform and Ron Paul would be very proud.

The Republican Party of Texas released its platform this month, calling on Congress to repeal the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965. “We urge that the Voter [sic] Rights Act of 1965 codified and updated in 1973 be repealed and not reauthorized,” the platform reads. Texas is one of nine states with a history of racial discrimination that must get clearance from the Department of Justice before altering its voting laws.

I don’t need to gaze into a crystal ball to tell you why they want to repeal the Voting Rights Act.

Texas Republicans know as well as you do that changing demographics and unrepentant, discriminatory rhetoric have lead to a very real possibility that Texas will turn blue in the not-too-distant future. And in this scenario, Texas Republicans will use every single tool at their disposal to delay it, including suppression of the vote.

Republicans believe that it’s too easy to vote in America but too hard to buy a gun. We are the only industrialized nation with a majority party that holds these views. And considering how easy it is to buy a gun in this country, they’re living in a fun house mirror world.

And here I thought that the goal of a participatory democracy was to get as many people as you can to participate in it…

I live in Texas, and, sorry…this just isn’t funny to me. These people are nuts, and most of the time I feel completely powerless to do anything about it. Could be time to move. Not sure I can last here another 4- 8 years waiting for it to turn blue….WHICH IT EVENTUALLY WILL. One can only hope

I’m so glad I no longer live in Texas… hell, I’m glad I now live outside the US. I feel for you. I could never, ever live there again.

    They’re psychotic.

To Sum up: God, Cruelty, Profit, and Obedience.

The word “Homosexual” appears 9-10 times as a way to condemn it.

The word “scientific” appears just once, as a way to deny it.
