Vindication

Artist – Tim Eagan

In other news, Romney’s first pick for Chief of Staff or White House Counsel in the campaign’s potential presidential transition plans is a man who is profiting from Obamacare. He offers consulting services to states implementing health insurance exchanges.

Whoops?

Yeah, they’ll be vindicated, all right. There just won’t be anyone left.

The “other news” about Mitt’s potential Chief of Staff refers to former Utah governor Mike Leavitt, whose ancestor, Thomas Dudley Leavitt, participated in the infamous Mountain Meadows Massacre in 1857, and whose family still runs a major Utah insurance company. When a new monument was being planned at Mountain Meadows, a forensic team started excavating and found evidence of the violence that took place there; when it started hitting close to home, Leavitt shut down the study. Leavitt is best known in Utah for gutting the state’s fish and wildlife agency after experts in that department informed the public that fish from Leavitt family hatcheries were infected with whirling disease and were infecting other state-managed hatcheries. Leavitt’s response to this was to fire the biologists and wildlife experts and reduce the department’s staff and budget. Now all Utah hatcheries are infected with whirling disease. Leavitt also made his staff read the Book of Mormon every day before work, and say a prayer together at the start of each day.
