There Is No Threat or Evidence of Voter Fraud

My column today is all about the nonexistent voter fraud threat, which sounds eerily similar to the nonexistent terrorist threat.

Throughout the previous decade, anyone who claimed that there was no real threat of terrorism was hectored, accused of hating America and temporarily driven out of politics, even though the numbers vindicated them.

According to a study by Nate Silver, your odds of dying in an airplane-based terrorist attack are around one in 10,408,947. Statistically, that’s pretty close to zero. Conversely, your odds of dying by suicide are around one in 121. In other words, you’re significantly more of a threat to yourself than any terrorist ever.

And yet for the last 10 years, we’ve spent countless trillions of dollars fighting terrorists while enacting dubious laws like the USA PATRIOT Act, along with warrantless wire taps of American citizens, torture, two wars and illusory airport security measures that include disposing of your potentially explosive bottle of water in a trash bin that sits in the middle of a crowded line of passengers waiting in line. Holy Crap! (off topic) Just opened my mail and I got a check for 350.00 from my health insurance company thanks to the rebate due to the ACA.
Daily Banter site isn’t coming up by the way.

I bet you were expecting to open that letter and find out that Obama’s death panel was going to have you euthanized. *snark*

No, seriously, that’s really cool. Congrats!

Well, to counter your happy story, here’s an angry rant. I got declined for coverage by Blue Cross Blue Shield because of a pre-existing condition. They don’t HAVE to accept me until 2014. So now I have to settle for a temporary plan that only provides catastrophic insurance. Nice.

Well BCBS sucks. Have you looked into PCIP?

The Blue Cross rep gave me the URL yesterday and I am looking into it. The thing is, I am not that big of a risk. On paper it may look that way but if they would just bother to find out more….At least they can’t reject my son.

I asked my company how the refunds would be handled since I had read that there are instances where the employer receives the check and then has the option of returning the cash to the participants or using the money to decrease future premiums. According to the lady that handles our insurance, BC/BS of Illinois met the 80% threshold and will not be returning any dollars.

I paid over $4000 in premiums last year through my employer (they paid the other half), didn’t see a doctor or file a claim a single time during the year and no refund for me. Rats! I’m happy for you, though.

But there isn’t any evidence of “inappropriate things” anywhere. So how the hell can Grothman know that Democrats are somehow more responsible for them?

Longer Glenn Grothman: Well, someone must be responsible for all that nonexistent inappropriate cheating that’s going on—or not going on, as the case may be—and it’s likely to be Democrats! You just can’t trust those rascals! If we don’t pass laws to stop them, they’re likely not to do things that don’t happen anyway! Derp!

Anti-hobbit laws make much more sense.
