Unnecessary Procedures

There’s a wonky, ironic joke about GOP opposition to Comparative Effectiveness Research in there somewhere.

In other news, according to senior Romney adviser Ed Gillespie, Mitt Romney actually “retroactively retired” from Bain Capital in 1999 in 2002. Meaning he stayed with the company until 2002 but then “retroactively” declared a retirement point of 1999.

The bullshit is strong in this one!

I must be real dense because I do not get what that means… retroactively retirement. Is that a real thing? Do people actually do this? It sounds like… “the first retirement didn’t take so we did it again”…. am I even close?

Here is my attempt to decipher of what exactly took place. Mitt decided to run for Governor, in 2002, as stepping stone for his main prize, the Presidency after that. He knew how devastating Teddy Kennedy had used Bain’s inhumane record of destroying companies and firing workers to defeat him when he run for the Senate. So, he decided ,in 2002, to retroactively retire in 1999. That way he could claim that the continued destruction of companies, and outsourcing/offshoring of jobs took place after he had retired; though in actuality he had not yet retired. In other words the year 1999 was picked purely for political reasons to diffuse any criticism of Bain record under his control. Mitt never imagined that politically savvy people would look up the actual record of when he left Bain. Everything was going well for Mitt, until the smart Obama team showed up.

Bill Clinton should’ve said he got a retroactive blowjob… whole impeachment thing would’ve just been silly then!

      Bravo, Razor!

That’s really good cartoon, right there.

And when Republicans lie and say they want to “save Medicare” and accuse the president of Medicare betrayal for $500 Billion in cuts, it’s this sort of looting and waste Republicans are actually trying to preserve when they call for repealing Obamacare. So, when you follow their legislative trail of tears, Republicans are taking votes to hurt people, but it’s bad form to call psychopaths psychopaths and run them out on a rail for some reason. How anyone can entertain their smiley faced sadism anymore is beyond me.

“Smiley faced sadism.” I’m stealing that.

Their Shining voice is threatening to drown a bag of poor people in the river. And we’re going to repeal Obamacare![We're gonna drown some of you in the river because we're crazy, Doc].

Idea for a short horror film: Executive invests company money into struggling business, sends jobs overseas, borrows against capital, drains all the cash and then sells off the parts one by one for huge profit. The press finds out about it and it’s all over the news. What’s worse is that the business was an abortion factory that disposed of fetuses by burning them in US flags in a mosque. The young executive is called on the carpet.

    The final scene:

    INT. BOARDROOM – DAY.

Senior board member: You’ve put us in a hell of a position here, Jones. Explain yourself.

Jones: But Mr Romney himself signed off on this. It was his idea. He called me into his office and told me exactly how to do it. I gotta tell you, I was a bit worried about it, but he assured me it was a fantastic plan and told me he had a lot of confidence in me. To be honest, it was the greatest experience I’ve ever had professionally.

The board members are shocked, and one of them gasps audibly. The horror of the situation begins to dawn on them and their faces fill with fear.

Senior board member: Th-that’s impossible, Jones. Mr Romney retired THREE YEARS AGO!

Jones (dropping to his knees, face toward the ceiling): Nooooooooooooo!

    THE END.

It’s a scene worthy of Calculon!

  • Brutlyhonest

People who want to abolish the death penalty should start calling it retroactive abortion.

If Mitt retroactively retired “from Bain Capital in 1999 in 2002,” did he pay back at least $400,000 that he received as a CEO? If he did, surely both Bain and Mitt should have documents to prove his retroactive retirement. If he didn’t pay back the money then he retire in 2002 and not in 1999. Unless of course people in the corporate world operate under different sets of rules.

People in the corporate world at Romney’s level do think they get to operate under a different set of rules. Look at the way Wall Street elites crashed the economy, demanded bail outs and then still felt like they were “owed” huge salaries, bonuses, etc. They believe in their heart of hearts that they’re special and should be given more leeway. It’s pure narcissism and our society not only created these monsters, we allow them to feed off of us and grow in power. Romney is the perfect example of this phenomena.

So all he needs to do is to declare moral bankruptcy, and all his past misdeeds will be forgiven. Got it.
