Well, So Much for Expanding Medicaid

Most of the (red) states aren’t bothering to expand Medicaid to 133% of the federal poverty level, as per the greenlight from the Supremes. Map via Maddow Blog:

We’re such a compassionate nation, aren’t we?

Heh-hello?

Never mind.

I wonder how many people will tire of their relatives telling them how great their state’s progam is before they up and leave these states? It’s fantasy on my part but, I’d love to see those states become so bare that they lose a Senator and Congress person which would keep them in the minority for generations!

Unfortunately, they may be jumping from the frying pan into the fire. The population of Arizona continues to soar and you know how crazy they are out here.

Wow, look at all the Freedom!

This is interesting information but I have’t given up hope yet.
Let’s not forget the blatant lies and vast amount of money that fought against heathcare reform for decades. Special interests, the insurance lobby along with GOP help have also demonized the word socialism beyond recognition. The scare tactics and decietful sensationalism will fade as Progressive States move ahead and red states fall farther behind again.
In the 1940′s, Tommy Douglas introduced universal healthcare in the sparsely populated prarie province of Saskatchewan in Canada. He was called a dictator and worse, but as people accross the nation saw the benefits, they started to demand it in their own provinces. As the dominoes fell, citizens realized that they didn’t have to sell the farm because Grampa got sick.
I’m sure there are similar stories form every other developed country whose citizens enjoy universal health coverage so I still have faith that Americans, no matter how ill advised in the past, will see beyond the baseless fear mongering and start to catch up to the rest of the world.

I agree with you KAbonk. I still have hope. If Obama can win this election and we get to 2014 when most of this gets implemented, Republicans will shit their pants because even the rednecks are going to like it. just like they did Social Security and Medicare. thats what the right wing is scared of….PEOPLE WILL LIKE IT once everything goes into effect. I have hope anyway..

  • JMAshby

I predict half of those ‘leaning no’ will change their tune after the election is over.

    • stacib23

I predict all of them will change their tune, and it ain’t gonna take them long to do it. They will wait for somebody (all the unhappy, uncovered constituents) to “make” do it while making all sorts of noise about the government violating state’s rights. Afterwards, they will take the credit for people being insured in the same manner they did with the stimulus. Fuckers!

    • D_C_Wilson

Of course. Just like they railed against the stimulus, then lobbied for funding under it. Republicans just need to posture in order to have cover for the teabagger morons.

Washington State: not saying “fuck you” to poor people; at least out loud.
