Olympic Fever Mail Bag!

Actually there aren’t really any Olympic questions. Here are this week’s actual Daily Banter Mail Bad questions. Go here for answers from Ben, Chez and I.

I like chick fil a and as much as I like gay rights…help me out here. What do I do?
Jason (ps I’m gay…)

Mitt Romney behavior abroad has seriously woken me up. This guy is such a fucking clown. How the hell can any American with the vaguest sense of civic responsibility not vote for Obama? It’s so embarrassing as an American to see this type of behavior from a supposedly serious politician. Are there any reasons left to sit at home in November? Seriously? Please, let me know if there are any.
Sean P.

I don’t know why everyone is calling Romney the worst GOP candidate ever. The guy is a tool, but compared to GW, he’s a saint. Do you seriously think it could get worse than 2000-2008? I’m not saying I’m voting for the guy but I think everyone’s going a bit over board with the apocalyptic predictions. Romney is from Massachusetts for heavens sake. Hardcore Republicans don’t even exist there.

Bob: Drone strikes! Sit at home because of drones! Then watch Romney get elected and use drones — and real soldiers instead, so we’re not just racking up collateral damage, we’re also losing more soldiers. Get it? Anyone who thinks that staying home will change things is insane and should probably be ignored.

    I laughed.

You’re right, Bob. Seriously bad questions. Sheesh…..

    Tangentially related to Question 2:

I was gobsmacked when I saw Truthdig (I’ve mentioned my disenchantment with Robert Scheer and his sub-Hamsher purity trolling) had published Bill Boyarsky’s latest column: “Anti-Obama Animus on the Left Reaches Hysterical Proportions”—I was somewhat less surprised that the comments were, well, hysterically anti-Obama.

The Left, ladies and gentlemen, doing all it can to hand the country to the Right on a silver platter.

The American Left….has it always been like this? My biggest disappointment over the past few years is learning that those that I kind of looked up to are really assholes. Do they really believe that the Green Party can win a national election?

Third question: Imagine if the 2008 fiscal crisis instead happened (or I should say, happens again) in the second year of Romney’s term, instead of a month before the election. The tax increases on the 98% that the empty suit would sign in the first year, well get ready for another round of those increases to go with the zeroing out of the Koch brothers’ taxes. And when I say “zeroing out”, I mean that the top end will be reimbursed for all other taxes paid to various state and local entities. Absent will be any action that might actually help. Mitt’s ideology doesn’t matter – he’s a natural follower that will sign any crap put in front of him by the GOP nuts in Congress.

I am told the only reason to go to Chick-Fil-A is their fresh squeezed lemonade. If you’re so jonesing for that, skip it and the manager’s poop particles on the lemons and make it yourself. Squeeze some lemons til the juice runs down your leg, add sugar, ice and water and drink up.
