Paul Ryan’s Legislative Record is Pathetic

Because he’s very serious and can get things done:

He’s been in Congress for nearly 13 years, but Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has only seen two of his bills pass into law during that time.

Ryan, who Mitt Romney has tapped as his running mate, passed a bill into law in July 2000 that renames a post office in his district. Thanks to Ryan, the post office on 1818 Milton Ave. in Janesville, Wis., is now known as “Les Aspin Post Office Building.”

The other time Ryan saw one of his bills become law was in December 2008, with legislation to change the way arrows (as in bows and arrows) are hit with an excise tax. Specifically, his bill amended the Internal Revenue Code to impose a 39-cent tax per arrow shaft, instead of a 12.4 percent tax on the sales price. The bill also “includes points suitable for use with arrows in the 11 percent excise tax on arrow parts and accessories.”

Wow! Leadership!

Do you know what it feels like when you blow coffee out of your nose? I was watching the Stephanie Miller Show on Current this morning when I heard about Paul Ryan’s phenomenal list of accomplishments in the house of representatives. I blew my coffee right out my nose in that “you have to be shittin’ me” kind of surprise reaction. A tax on arrows? Really? Wow, what a record of leadership. He does know how to get things done!

Republicans don’t run for national office to CREATE serious legislation, they run to OPPOSE serious legislation.

  • mzmijewski

The only guys worse than this are Dan Burton and Mike Pence. Both from Indiana. Pence is now running for govenor of Indiana. We can count on Republicans to lead the way – to where I am not sure.

Hell in a hand basket, apparently.

  • agrazingmoose

Well, it is a lot easier to just vote no all the time.

Does Ted Nugent know Ryan raised taxes on arrows? Sounds like tyranny to me.

So , wait… Fully HALF of all the legislation Ryan has gotten passed is TAX HIKES!! That socialist, commie bastard.

As dismal as it sounds, it will probably make no difference. Romney/Ryan’s donors will buy a good chunk of the election for them. And let’s not underestimate the power of the the Scooter Chair Brigade who will vote en masse in opposition to their best interests. They will stick their fingers in their ears and pretend they don’t hear Romney/Ryan’s positions on Medicare and Social Security and instead wax wistful over how clean cut all-American handsome white bread the two of them are as opposed to the dark-skinned foreign Kenyan usurper in the White House. Any efforts to warn them of what’s coming will fall on deaf ears or be greeted with the familiar canard of “They don’t mean ME! They are only taking it away from those OTHER undeserving people!” Then when Romney/Ryan wins and comes for their Medicare and Social Security, they will try to act befuddled about how it all happened!

    • KanaW

I agree with all of the above, with the exception of this line:
“they will try to act befuddled about how it all happened”

They won’t have to try to act befuddled. They will be befuddled, because they honestly cannot see that if A equals B and B is less than C, then A is less than C. That’s higher math, you know. /snark

You know, if instead of saying

the Scooter Chair Brigade who will vote en masse in opposition to their best interests. They will stick their fingers in their ears and pretend they don’t hear

      You said

women who will stick their fingers in their ears and pretend they don’t hear” OR “black people who will stick their fingers in their ears and pretend they don’t hear” and so forth and so on, we could call your post sexist or racist rather than ageist.

Personally, I’d rather not be any of those things.

Joe Biden hasn’t had a solid poop since Saturday morning.
    Ryan was the right pick.

    • zirgar

“Joe Biden hasn’t had a solid poop since Saturday morning.”

Yeah, you probably strain them through your teeth to check their consistency.

Also, this raises all sorts of questions about what you do when you
you’re not trolling on Cesca’s blog.

“Hi, I’m joseph2004. Don’t let these brown lip stains scare ya–they’re a sign of craftmanship. Let me check your grown man poop for ya!”

    • http://www.politicalruminations.com/ nicole

      Lol.

The truth, joseph, is that OBama-Biden are fricking THRILLED at Romney’s choice, as are most Democrats.

(if you think we’re going to allow Romney-Ryan to pull the Medicare wool over the eyes of Americans, you had better rethink that)

In other news, ROMNEY-RYAN announced today that they are ready to guarantee a Kroger special on Catfood for Seniors throughout their 4-8 year term(s) if seniors will just pledge to vote Romney-Ryan in November (and sign away $20 of their SS benefits monthly)! ROMNEY-RYAN just LOVES them some seniors! And catfood! YUM!

      you were saying, joseph?

      • Victor_the_Crab

        He was saying, “Yargle-Bargle!”

    • Victor_the_Crab

So says the retarded fecalphiliac who picks his own nose, amirite joeyshits?

  • trgahan

Please…he’s qualified where he needs to be: skin color, religion (sorta), hates government while wanting to control it, and when he says ” I’m serious about the budget.” the media just nods and says “yes, yes you are!”
