The Most Hilarious Headline of the Week

And here it is. Try not to laugh.

Mitt Romney to ‘fact check’ Obama in debate

Mitt Romney plans to turn himself into a one-man truth squad during the first presidential debate next week, casting President Barack Obama as someone who can’t be trusted to stick to the facts or keep his promises.

Top Republicans are telegraphing Romney’s hard-line strategy for his faceoff with Obama, according to Mike Allen’s Playbook in POLITICO on Thursday. The debate plan comes during a presidential cycle where media fact-checkers have held a high profile and where an earlier effort by Democrats to cast GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan as untrustworthy got results.

HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Mitt Romney: Fact-checker.

That’s about as realistic as Richard Nixon: Truth Teller. Or Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Basically, it’s going to involve Romney constantly saying, “That’s not true!” to everything the President says and then changing the subject. The Republican base will believe the President is a liar and everyone else will believe Romney is a putz.

I can see Romney screaming “LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE” at the president, he’s that desperate.

…everyone else will believe Romney is a putz.

That ship sailed quite a while ago.

The stage is now set for a live re-enactment of the classic Star Trek episode in which the Android leader’s head explodes, trapped in the endless loop of the liar’s paradox.

    BWAHAHAHAHA!
Not only do the Republicans lack a sense of decency, compassion and reality, they also have no sense of irony and humor.

Of course, media fact-checkers are a double-edged sword since they’re also “afraid” of being labeled liberally biased. Don’t forget politifact’s “lie of the year” which is getting repeated in the VA-02 campaign (and probably many others).

George Orwell’s 1984 was 28 years premature! What Orwell had in mind, and captured so accurately in his novel, 1984, was the current reality of the GOP. I personally think that people like Karl Rove have been working very hard to make the fictional 1984 a reality. Guess what? Rove and his comrades have been very successful. Up is now Down. War is Peace. And Lies are Truths.

Consequently, Mitt Romney, the compulsive serial liar, is going to be the aggressive “truth teller” during the Presidential debates. Knowing the way our media operates, Mitt’s lies will be ignored and he will be hailed as the winner for his aggressiveness in telling lies about President Obama, while he will at the same time claim that it’s President Obama who cannot be trusted.
