Heartbreaking

REUTERS/Michelle McLoughlin

I find this photograph from Sandy Hook almost irrevocably heartbreaking. When I was five years old, my friend across the street, Eric, was the victim of a murder-suicide. He was seven. I’ll never forget sitting on the curb with my brother watching the medics wheel the sheet-draped gurney out to the ambulance. I feel what these kids in the photograph are feeling.

    Thanks for sharing Bob.

That’s the second deeply affecting photo I’ve seen of this tragedy. The other was the photo of children being led out of the school with their eyes closed. Both seem to me worthy of a Pulitzer, and I kind of wish I hadn’t seen either one.

    Thank you for sharing Bob,
I too, know that horror; that loss of innocence from personal experience. I am thankful every day I am here. But I would not wish that visual of violence or earth-shattering sadness/ loss on anyone
    There simply are no words…

Reminds me of that iconic image from the Oklahoma City bombing of the fireman cradling a dead child.

I cannot imagine, Bob. Horrifying and heart-breaking.

Wow Bob. I had no idea.

    Bob-

No one, especially a child of seven, should have to witness what you did. My best to you.
