Dear Republicans, You’re No MLK

Wingnut Virginia attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli is the latest Republican to compare himself to Martin Luther King, Jr.

Cuccinelli makes a very easy target, especially when — like he did once again Monday — he compares his fight against the contraception coverage mandate found in ‘Obamacare’ to the non-violent civil rights struggle led by Martin Luther King, Jr.

On Monday, MLK Day, Cuccinelli again made the comparison between his fight against the federal requirement that birth control be offered with no copay by insurance plans to King’s fight for equal rights for African Americans. Cuccinelli earned some headlines earlier this month when he told an Iowa show that opponents of the mandate need to be prepared to “go to jail” in protest of the law. (He later tried to walk that back a bit.)

It would be cute if it wasn’t so offensive. The modern GOP bears no resemblance in any way to Martin Luther King. None.

Only in “right to life” bizzarro world where women get abortions between stops for coffee and manicures preparing for their next sexual fling and most doctors believe in the “cultural of death” and urge girls to abort their babies would stopping a provision that states IF a women DECIDES to go on birth control AND uses her employee sponsored health insurance to pay for there is no copay is EQUAL TO OR GREATER than one man’s struggle for equal rights denied a large segment of society for 100’s of years by a racist establishment that ultimately killed him for just asking to be treated equally.

“The modern GOP bears no resemblance in any way to Martin Luther King.”

    The understatement of the century!

Lawyers who advise their clients to commit unlawful acts that may result in them going to jail risk being disbarred.

    Just sayin’.
