The NRA and Their Blue Blanket

In other news, the CEO of Whole Foods has absolutely no idea what he’s talking about.

Back in 2009, Whole Foods CEO John Mackey wrote an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal labeling President Obama’s Affordable Care Act a form of “socialism.” Today on NPR’s Morning Edition he changed his mind. Mackey now thinks Obamacare is “fascism.”

“Technically speaking, it’s more like fascism,” Mackey told NPR. “Socialism is where the government owns the means of production. In fascism, the government doesn’t own the means of production, but they do control it — and that’s what’s happening with our health care programs and these reforms.”

It’s socialism! No, wait, it’s fascism!

The CEO of Wholefoods has been a pretty strange guy for a while. I knew he was into the libertarianism thing for some time now and upon hearing this Papa John-esque rant I wasn’t too surprised. Perhaps a bit of organic liberty can calm him.

Great. So he’s been sucking on the libertarian fumes for a while, huh? Outstanding…..

One would think that given the sort of customers that Whole Foods gets this guy would STFU about his politics and not alienate the people that keep his company running.

The guy’s probably one of those paranoid libertarians (are there any other kind, really) who thinks the government is out to poison people, vaccines are actually bad for you and soylent green is made out of people. He’s no liberal, that’s for sure.

    No, it’s Fascialcism!

Wait, I got a Fascialism at the salon this past weekend. Does that make me just like Hitler?

      • mrbrink

        Exactly like Hitler!

You know, I wondered why they trimmed my mustache like that!

Guys like him remind me of the scene in Chinatown, where Fay Dunaway responds to Jack Nicholson everytime he slaps her. “He’s a facist. [SLAP] He’s a socialist. [SLAP] He’s a facist AND a socialist!!! [SLAP, SLAP]”
