They’re Still Republicans, Just Don’t Call Them That

The Republican Main Street Partnership assures you — they’re still dedicated to partisanship even if they drop it from their name.

The Republican Main Street Partnership, the group focused on supporting and electing moderate Republicans, is still in the process of dropping the “Republican” from its name. But the group says it won’t support Democrats even if it drops the partisanship from its name.

RMSP President Steve LaTourette, the former congressman from Ohio, clarified the shift at a roundtable with reporters Tuesday.

“We have filed the paperwork. It’s Republican Main Street Partnership but it’s d/b/a — it’s going to be doing business as Main Street Partnership. And so future iterations of our publications are going to be reflected as ‘Main Street Partnership,’” LaTourette explained.

Moderate Republicans can no longer afford to be identified as Republican.

I’d call that progress.

Remember when the Tea Party started how they indignantly insisted over and over that they weren’t Republicans? This is like that.

(Hilariously, the Tea Partiers were actually being partly truthful. They weren’t Republicans. They were Extreme Right Wing Republicans.)

They can call themselves whatever the hell they like. They’ll still be Republicans, i.e., the scourge of the earth.

Oh, damn it all to hell!

    They filed the paperwork!

    The paperwork!

This kind of shit right here always reminds me of Old School when the assistant to the Dean says, “Well, it’s interesting, sir. As stupid as they appear, they’re actually very good at paperwork– It’s quite an anomaly.”

They fill out the paperwork and the next thing you know they’re controlling every branch of government.
